Loki is an American television series created by Michael Waldron for the streaming service Disney+, based on Marvel Comics featuring the character of the same name. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it shares continuity with the films of the franchise & takes place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame, in which an alternate version of Loki created a new timeline. Loki is produced by Marvel Studios, with Waldron serving as head writer & Kate Herron directing for the first season. Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as Loki from the film series with Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong & Owen Wilson. By September 2018 Marvel Studios was developing a number of limited series for Disney+ centered on supporting characters from the MCU films. A series featuring Hiddleston as Loki was confirmed in November 2018. Waldron was hired in February 2019 & Herron had joined by that August. Filming began in January 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia, but was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production resumed that September & completed in December. This is an alternate, "time variant" version of Loki who created a new timeline in Avengers: Endgame (2019) beginning in 2012. Because of this, he has not gone through the events of Thor: The Dark World (2013) or Thor: Ragnarok (2017), which reformed the previously villainous character before his death in Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Hiddleston expressed interest in returning to the role in order to explore Loki's powers, particularly his shapeshifting, which plays into the series' exploration of identity. Loki's sex in the series is denoted by the Time Variance Authority as "fluid", referencing the character's genderfluidity in Marvel Comics that had previously been speculated on for the MCU given his shapeshifting ability. In discussing the reveal, head writer Michael Waldron stated that he was aware of how many people identify with Loki and are "eager for that representation". Obi-Wan Kenobi is an American television miniseries created for the streaming service Disney+. It is part of the Star Wars franchise, beginning ten years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith & stars Ewan McGregor as the title character, reprising his role from the Star Wars prequel trilogy. The project originated as a spin-off film to be written by Hossein Amini and directed by Stephen Daldry, but it was reworked as a limited series by Amini following the commercial failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story & the franchise's subsequent pivot to television. McGregor was confirmed to be starring in August 2019 & Deborah Chow was hired to direct a month later. Production was scheduled to begin in July 2020, but the series was put on indefinite hold in January 2020 because Lucasfilm was unhappy with the series' scripts. Joby Harold was hired to rewrite the series and serve as showrunner in April 2020, executive producing with Chow, McGregor, Kathleen Kennedy & Michelle Rejwan. Additional castings were announced in March 2021 with co-stars such as Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Jimmy Smits, and Hayden Christensen also reprising their prequel trilogy roles. Filming began by May 2021 in Los Angeles using StageCraft video wall technology & wrapped by September. Star Wars film composer John Williams wrote the series' main theme. Obi-Wan Kenobi premiered on May 27, 2022, with its first two episodes. The other four episodes will be released weekly until June 22. The series has received positive reviews. Ten years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith in which the Jedi were destroyed by Order 66 & his former apprentice Anakin Skywalker became the Sith Lord Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi is watching over Vader's son, Luke Skywalker, on Tatooine. Hiding on Tatooine, Kenobi lives a solitary life in exile. Darth Vader has set up the Sith Inquisitors program, a group of dark side Force users, to hunt down any Jedi who survived Order 66. Kenobi is forced out of hiding on Tatooine to embark on a mission to rescue Leia, after she is kidnapped by the Galactic Empire's Jedi-hunting Inquisitors.
