Killzone (PS2)- Level 4 (Strange Company)- Scene 3
This is Vid Number 13 of an entire Normal Difficulty playthrough of the original Killzone on the PS2. I don't normally do playthroughs, and this isn't the most skillful playing, but I know there is a lot of interest in this game now that Killzone 2 is out, so I though I'd do a full playthrough showing all the levels and the story cut scenes, so let me give you a SPOILER WARNING. for those who haven't played the game yet.
To be honest, I think this game was unfairly panned by the gaming media. I really enjoyed it, but I will admit to it's flaws. First of all, it's glitchy. It's filled with graphical glitches (which you're likely to see in these vids), and occasionally the game will even glitch out and stop progression.The biggest complaint is with the controls. The default analog control setting it terrible. Luckily, the game's controls are 100% customizable, so you can fix, or mostly fix the aiming. I've never gotten it to feel perfect to my tastes, but I've gotten it close enough to where I can adjust to the aiming. Also, the Hellghast voices are extremely annoying at first, but you get used to them, and may even start to like them after a while.
To be honest, I'd have to disagree with the belief that the developer just tried to push more than the PS2 to handle in this game. I've seen games with nearly as good, or, arguably, better graphics run a lot smoother on the system. In reality it's likely that the game was rushed in order to beat Halo 2 to the market. It feels like it released too early, and it just lacks that final layer of polish. I hear they are bringing an HD version of this game to the PS3 with Killzone 3. I think I'd rather see a remake where they fix the glitches, and the other problems with the game.

This is a gameplay video of the Sega Saturn version of Marvel Super Heroes.
I'm playing it on Turbo speed in 3mb ram mode with my action replay plus. I think I'm only playing on three stars of difficulty, because I don't have the patience I once did for cheap enemy A.I.
This game will probably look pretty basic to all the Marvel vs Capcom 2 players, out there, and in many ways it is, but if you're a Saturn owner, it's a good buy. Of course X-Men vs Street Fighter and MSHvsSF are the most sought after Saturn Fighters and probably for good reason, but this is still a fun game to play, it's just got a limited cast of characters when compared to more recent fighting games.
For those who aren't aware, the Sega Saturn was an absolute beast at 2D games, and considering that it's controller is essentially an upgraded Sega Genesis controller, that means that it's perfect for 2D fighters. In fact there hasn't been a controller since that matches the Saturn's controller for 2D fighters. It's set up so perfectly for the three punch, and three kick setup of many 2D fighters out there. Plus it's d-pad is also one of the best. Maybe on par, or slightly worse than the Sega Genesis' D-pad on the six-button arcade pad which is still the greatest D-pad 2D fighters period.

This is just a combination of two videos I uploaded previously, and the third video which I started years ago, but never finished. There was going to be a one-sentence Game reviews Part 3, but I never finished it. It is now at the end of the video.
I tried my best to keep these as one-sentence reviews, but some of them are, indeed, two sentences. I tried. Lol. As per usual, I rant the old videos through Handbrake, trying to clean them up a little, but I can only do so much with standard def dazzle capture card footage. If you haven't seen the originals, you don't have to now.

Stranglehold is Max Payne taken to the next logical conclusion, and is a stylistic shooter with some really fun bullet time mechanics, and a lot of really cool environmental destruction. The full title is John Woo Presents: Stranglehold, and it stars Chow Yun-fat as Inspector Tequila.
I think I only ever got about half way through this game back in the day, but I do remember enjoying my time with it. It's interesting to see a John Woo titled game that is based off of Max Payne which was based off of John Woo movies.
Fun shooter, with mechanics that are as stylistic as they are fun to pull off. It might delve down into the same thing over and over again, but that's video games folks, and it never gets old pulling off a bullet-time slide over a table while feeding a baddie a face full of lead.
I do remember playing this game online once or twice, not only did this game offer a strong single player campaign, but it also had some fun online play. Remember when developers actually cared about making a good offline game, and yet, still managed to also make a good online experience with it?

A quick review for Call of Duty: Finest Hour on the PS2. It was also released on the Gamecube and Xbox. Still my favorite single-player in the series.
The Developer, Spark Unlimited would later go on to make Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, and Legendary- The Box.
NOTE: I spliced in a little bit of my old playthrough footage for this review. I was gonna capture all new footage of the game, but couldn't find my old save where I had a completed game, so I just used some old footage of the playthrough I posted. I've played through this game multiple times over the years.

This is the opening gameplay for Okage: Shadow King on the PS2. I tried to keep the text scrolling a little slower for the vid so people would have time to read it. As you can see, Okage takes a while to get going, but that is common in most RPGs.
Overall, from what I have played into Okage, I would say that most RPG gamers will find the battle system to be basic and bland. It is a pretty basic system in place.
What really sets this game apart for me, however, is the humor. The interactions with Stan I find to be funny, and they really give this game it's charm. I also like the art direction, and the music is really well done too.
NOTE: When I test watched this video, the sound seemed to be out of sync a little. I am not sure if it is a flaw in the video, or if Quicktime was just messing with me.

Say what you want about the game, but I actually liked it. It's definitely not Free Radical's best effort, but it's definitely a better game than some "professional" reviewers said it was (not that anyone would ever accuse them of knowing what a good game is anyways).
The Bot deathmatch is also pretty fun. I'm playing with the bot difficulty on very hard. It's not a replacement for human opponents mind you, but I have yet to take the game online (which actually still has a thriving community).

Note: I had to mute the in-game music to avoid a claim. I tried uploading a gameplay sample of this game the other day, and there was a content id match, so I had to record new footage for this review as the entire play-through I had already recorded had to be tossed. The music is really good though, it's a shame I can't let you hear it.
I am playing the PS3 edition for this review, because that's the version I own. I'm not sure if the 360 version runs better, but in the end, I'm betting the experience is mostly the same on either system. Wanted is a game that you will enjoy if you find it for a cheap price.

This is a series of gameplay vids I'm doing highlighting overlooked games for the PS1. I'm playing on a PS2 with texture smoothing on.
Don't worry, "PS2 Underrated Gems" fans, I'm not quitting those vids, I'm expanding it to all my consoles which was my original planning anyways.
Omega Boost is often said to be the PS1's answer to the N64's Star Fox, and the Sega Saturn's Panzer Dragoon series, and in many ways it does just that.
It's gameplay is a mixture of both of those games with a little more free flight added, and instead of being in a space ship or a dragon rider, you're a giant anime style mech blasting hordes of baddies in a 360 degree flight radius. Many people liken this game to the Macross games which never hit the states.
There's no save feature between levels, and it's also pretty short. However, there are unlockables to be had which add some replay value to it as well.
The weird thing is this game came from the developers of Gran Turismo Polyphony Digital.
