Paradise Creek and the Kaweah River are two very different waterways in Sequoia National Park. Several people have recently drown in the fast moving Kaweah, while the nearby Paradise Creek lives up to its name with a tranquil setting and crystal clear water. Our first stop after leaving Los Angeles to travel the world was Sequoia National Park. Despite being known for the gigantic Sequoia Trees, the park has plenty of other amazing things to do, including some pristine swimming holes, cliff jumps, caves and beautiful waterfalls. Goat Island (also known as Cape Rodney/Okakari Point) Marine Reserve tops every list of the best snorkeling spots in New Zealand. The great things is that you don't have to take a boat to get to the island. It's just an easy 10 minute swim across a shallow channel to enjoy this world class marine reserve.
