2 Week Old Cornish Cross Chickens, One More Tell It's Chicken Tractor Time
In this video we give you the 2 week update on the broiler chicks. You’ll notice that their feathers have really started to come in and their combs are starting to form. My wife corrected me and there is actually 6 loses total now. I’m pretty happy the birds only have a week tell they move out to the chicken tractors.
In this video we move the cows to their next paddock in the rotation and water the cows with the trailer tank. As you can see Hal was too distracted defending his turf to notice the girls being moved, so the bull took a little more effort to move.
In this video we’re moving cows on to green grass late in October. Last year on this date we already had snow on the ground. We also show a feature on the Gallagher Geared Reel we really like, the clip on the back that holds it securely to whatever we clip it to. We use the clip to hold it to the rack on the quad and have never had it fail.
In this video, we introduce the broilers to the poultry waterers we use in the chicken tractors. The chickens get to go on pasture this weekend as I am home to keep track of how things are going. They are technically ready to go on pasture today.
Here’s an update on the farm with the cows about to be moved to new pasture. Late fall moves on the hayfield with a strong wind blowing through. We’re hoping to continue grazing right into snow fall.
Calving season is over for us now, we only have the milk cows left and they are a whole other story. As you hear in the video, we had 13 animals calve but the first heifer lost her calf so we only have 12 calves this spring. As you can see the cows are liking all the fresh green grass they get this time of year while we rotationally graze them through the pastures.
