Wait, what!? Huh, I was building up for something else, but... this is definitely pretty big stuff here. BUT, Serge is now an official permenant member of our crew and thank goodness too. He's a bit of a lightweight in terms of HP and doing damage, but he's one of the best mages in the game. Give him some high level Magic Orbs to get him right into battle! He will certainly be an asset to the team. But wait...

Atop the Resolvent Iceberg, we are not greeted with a boss battle, but an interesting set of cutscenes. It's surprising since a LOT of the time, this game usually would do something like that. NOT this time and it is a little bit welcome. Admittedly a little surprising how much of a break we've had from the boss battles. I'm kind of missing it a little.
Anyway, these cutscenes will definitely bring about some interesting situations for future events coming up and it's a little nice to know that even the characters that are pretty kick ass can still develop! Good job, Rastanman!

Take what you know about Wario, flip the first letter around, increase your consistency, distance and accuracy while lessening the brazenness of your shots and you got Mario!
Mario is, without a doubt, the hardest opponent thus far and unfortunately, we have to play him on one of the hardest courses in the game. Just because Mario's Star is an overall tough course does not mean that Mario will be at all fazed. In fact, expect to be doing an amazing job putting you on edge for most of the match. The AI is truly not playing around anymore and you will need to bring your best game if you want to take the win from the plumber and FINALLY unlock him in 1-Player modes.
The scary part of this all? This is just the warm-up for the TRUE match after this one...

In 1995, after the Sonic trilogy on the Genesis was all said and done, Sega unleashed a different creature onto the gaming populace. Ironically enough, this being was the runner-up to the mascot position and there are some reasons why: "YOU'RE TOO SLOW!" "COME ON, STEP IT UP!" This guy just... wasn't fast enough. But while this lad may have lacked in his feet, he more than made up for it in his hands!
This is Ristar for the Sega Genesis and this is one of the best non-Sonic platformers that I can think of recommending to everyone. Blessed with gorgeous visuals, solid level design and an amazing soundtrack, Ristar is a treat for any player who's looking for the next thing after Sonic & Knuckles. Of course, it's pretty tough to one-up that game and all that it did, but Ristar certainly does its best. Throwing you into seven colorful locations, each with two areas and a boss arena! There are also bonus stages, which I plan to find and complete all of them for you all! Our hero's goal though? Saving his father and the galaxy from Kaiser Greedy's and his "Crazy Kings". So join me as we crash down into the star-studded universe of Ristar!
First stop takes place on the planet in which Ristar was summoned to try and clean up. It seems to be blessed with beautiful vistas of grass-covered cliffs and bountiful forests that can sometimes create too good of a shade. Maybe we can have a chat with the elder and see what's up? But wait, he's... not so happy to see me right now...

NOTE: This stream was done before the BIG update (1.03/1.04) on 9/7/2020. Experiences showcased in this stream will be considerably different from the gameplay you will get with the latest version.
The Old Pier definitely spices thing up a little more with an introduction of a old, but more annoying enemy. Remember the ladies in the original three games that did a jump kick? They're back and definitely have improved their aerial assaulting skills. Furthermore, we get acquainted with another element that has been in all three games: Pits. Instead of robbing you of a life, it will take a good chunk of health from you. Certainly not as bad, but the enemies have a tendency to knock you into them sometimes.
It seems that the police have caught up with you and there's a nice war between the thugs in the second half of the stage. Definitely take advantage of the two fronts not liking one another and pick your battles, but don't forget about the bonus arcade machine. Just make sure to leave a taser around for it!
However, it seems that the real party is unfolding on the beach. But it seems that they've brought the big guns this time around.

Well, Alf has wings and we don't. So you know what that means, right? MORE... WALKING! When will we get our OWN Lightship, huh? Yeesh, what a pain.
The good news is that our heroes are the social variety and will have time to stop and chat from time to time. Our RPGs have gone some ways after the days of old-school Dragon Quest, so I appreciate the skits every now and then.

Now that we've been trapped in this town for ALMOST two hours, our eventual departure comes with one last character introduction. And she is honestly one of the best things to come from this long ride: Cecille! Cecille quickly proves her worth and provides some much needed help in terms of our crew.
