When visiting Gaudi's Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, I was struck by an artwork right above the sacred alter depicting what should have been the crucifixion of Christ. Around me was a marble forest of tree-like columns, bathed in psychedelic colours that came pouring in from the stained-glass windows. It felt sacred... but in a way that was almost pagan! While looking up, I could not help but wonder, who exactly was this dying god...?
