How to Increase Your Video Charisma With a Teleprompter
If you’ve ever read anything about teleprompters then this title probably sounds crazy, no? Doesn’t the teleprompter just steal charisma? Is that not the Faustian bargain you make in exchange for being able to cut down on your production time?
For the vast majority of people I would say yes. But after you perform the technique I demonstrate in this video, you may have to exit the majority.
I think this is also fun to do, so watch and see what you think, too.

I think YouTube is, by default, encouraging video creators to raise their game. And if YouTube, the land of cats playing the piano, is saying this, shouldn't we listen?
And if so, how do we play this?
Well, here's what you should know…

Everyone wants more control over their video content. But that's a dead end.
Control is an illusion. I think this is how the world actually works.

We humans love to buy things.
We love the anticipation, the sense of discovery, and the hope of progress that goes along with it. Or maybe that’s just me..
But I don’t think so. After all, from the perfect kitchen knife to the fastest computer to that $5,000 per month mastermind, who buys with a grudge in their heart? Not a one.
So it’s worth giving a thought as to how exactly a sale like that happens. Or any other for that matter.
Do we NEED to persuade someone to do something they’re ready, able and want badly to do? Is that how it’s done?
Or does it even matter? After all, once any sales tactic has chalked up another victory, the aftertaste is quickly forgotten, right?
Something to think about on a blustery Spring day...

What can you do to help, right from where you are? That was the question that came up for me a couple of weeks ago. And the answer was to empower people to get out of this crisis in better shape than they went into it.
There’s nothing for sale here, but I may well be able to help you kick out some big rocks currently blocking your path.

In video we have to make a lot of decisions. The success of each video depends on our choices. So naturally we skip stuff like what shade of lipstick to wear, how we’ll start the video, whether we’ll sit or stand, and all kinds of other things that don’t make any difference in how the video will be received.
Except for one thing.
Your shade of lipstick does matter, how you start the video matters, and believe it or not, whether you’ll be sitting or standing matters, too.
But again, a tiny decision.
Speaking of which…
I’ve decided to create a little oasis of calm and simplicity with something I’m calling “The tinyTutorial™“. (The “™” is a bit corporate, isn’t it? I may have to rethink that.)
The first tinyTutorial (yep, that’s better) is about a shooting decision many people skip, and so it’s often one of the things we talk about before a new client steps into their studio for the first time.

Video interviews USED to be a matter of setting up lights, cameras and a set. And that could take a whole hour in itself.
Now it's a matter of firing up your webcam. Nothing to it, right?
Well, not so fast.
If anything, the margin of error is way thinner than it used to be. Bandwidth can choke your image. You get one dinky little file with all your audio and video to edit, and differing audio levels alone can make it a total nightmare to edit.
But now there's a cool little piece of software, that when you combine it with some simple best practices, your online interviews will come out second to none.
Do this and your authority cred just might jump a few notches overnight!

"Yeah, but what do I make a video about?"
I hear this question a lot. And I've always just given my stock answers. And usually they're enough to help someone give it a try.
But I've never been able to tell you the whole truth. Why? Well, it's kind of a long story, but after you hear it, you won't run out of topics to make videos about for a long, long time...
