I made crispy crunchy crab Rangoon from fish sticks made from Pollock instead of artificial crab meat which is also made from Pollock. Crab Rangoon is expensive in Chinese restaurants but using this recipe and method you can make your own fake crispy crab rangoons at home for very little money.
I added celery and carrot to improve the texture and flavor along with some old Bay seasoning lemon pepper and parsley flakes
and cream cheese. I also made a dipping sauce from Greek yogurt and marmalade made from oranges and some ginger. The dipping sauce was surprisingly good much better than I had expected.
The fake crab Rangoon was very crunchy and crispy and the filling did not taste like real authentic crab meat but had a better flavor
than any crab Rangoon, I have tasted made with the artificial crab.
I think I should add a few drops of fish sauce the next time I make this to give it more of a seafood flavor
and also add the fish sticks at the very end so they remain chunky.
The dipping sauce is made in a mini blender from 2 large tablespoons of Greek yogurt and orange marmalade each with a pinch of ground ginger and blended for 30 seconds.
RECIPE
Robb's FISH STICK RANGOONS

This is a simple way to place a Garmin GPS on just about any dashboard of most vehicles. My attachments to mount my Garmin kept breaking so I used an old sock I got for free ( minus the operation) at my local hospital. . You can add a nonslip surface like dabs of silicone sealant to a regular sock and make the same thing. The sock is simple to adjust the shape and location and leaves no mark on your car's dash. If you slam on the brakes the GPS could come off the sock. How often do you do that? If that was a common thing I would add velcro to the sock and dash and make some elastic loops for the Garmin to secure it to the sock.

This is my book review of the "Ultimate Fishing Guide to Fishing South Florida on Foot" written by Steve Kantner. I have been fishing fresh and saltwater in South Florida all of my life and found Steve's book to be a wonderful addition to my collection of Florida fishing and outdoors themed books.
Steve covers several areas not mentioned in many other fishing books and his focus on angling spots accessible by those without a boat has been needed for a long time.
I would have liked for him to write about other aspects of fishing that he omitted like shrimping and crabbing and harvesting other types of wild food from salt and freshwater but I am quite happy with his book as it is.
I will be posting more fishing videos in 2020 and will have a video covering the legality of surf fishing in Broward and Dade County. Please check out my Florida Fishing Playlist where I have many videos from some of my most favorite Florida fishing channels including some of my own fishing videos.

100 million Americans have nothing saved for retirement. One reason for this is the lack of personal finance education taught in the schools. When I graduated high school I made mistake after mistake in my personal finances. I was clueless.
One of my favorite authors is Scott Adams who is the creator of the popular Dilbert cartoons. In one of his earlier books he wrote a one page summary of the most basic financial advice to give to people. Scott asserted that there was an entire industry of personal financial advice that could basically be made redundant if people just followed his 9 simple steps. All of his advice is debatable as there are always exceptions and things change over time, but I think his page of advice is still an excellent foundation to build on.
I will be doing more videos like this in the future where I review the works of others who have attempted to distill the complicated world of personal finance down to simple steps anyone can take.
I will also do a video on the many mistakes I have made and what I learned from them and videos on what might be opportunities as the financial landscape continues to change very rapidly with not much help from the past to guide us.
If you are stony broke and 2 steps away from living in a tent on the sidewalk you should know I grew up in the housing projects in Miami, Larchmont Projects, and Little River Terraces, where we eventually got evicted from. I know a little about those pork and beans. I hope to do some videos that might help those truly close to the bottom, I know videos about 401 Ks and mutual funds have to be laughable to some people right now.
Please feel free to leave helpful comments and suggestions.

The vita mix blender is one of my favorite kitchen appliances. I have a 40 year old Vitamix 3600 model with the spout or spigot.
My spout broke recently and I replaced it using a part I got on eBay.
I only used the spout in the past for taking small samples and was not using it properly. I found out I need to remove the stopper on top if I want a large flow from the spout, otherwise I will create a vacuum and restrict the flow. After realizing this, I imagined I wasn't the only dummy who was not using the Vitamix properly so decided to make a short video . Hope it helps.
If you don't have a Vitamix, I recommend an old 3600 model, they are built like a tank and look very cool.
Thanks for watching and subscribing. I add new videos every week, usually Tuesday.

I grew up fishing with bread for bait. I like to use lures and live bait and even dead bait like everybody else, but sometimes I like to go back to bread for bait. The way I fish with bread is different than the way most fishermen do, and it is also a lot of fun and catches a ton of freshwater panfish and even some saltwater fish.
Sometimes I add a little homemade fish attractant to my bread or bait or even lures, although it is not necessary. Here is the video link showing how I make DIY fish attractant.

A quick 3 main ingredients corned beef hash. I used onions, a 1/3 can of corned beef, and a few diced potatoes. The spices were red pepper flakes, parsley, and garlic powder. All of the ingredients were cooked on low heat in a covered non-stick pan.
This recipe does make corned beef hash, but adding only a few extra ingredients and cooking the meal in a different way with more care and attention would have made the dish tastier. A lot tastier!
I do not like to cook at a high temperature when using non-stick pans. To be tasty this dish should be cooked in a skillet at high temperatures to quickly caramelize the onions so you can remove them and add the potatoes to get a nice crust on them when cooked in oil. Once the potatoes are almost done then add back the onions and add the corned beef and cook on low to heat the corned beef and mix it in. Some paprika and salad olives would be nice as would some diced celery.
The way I cooked the meal in the video the ingredients were closer to being steamed than sauteed. The dish was edible and did not taste bad, but it tastes like something you get out of a can or in a cafeteria in a government institution. Not acceptable.
Even though you are using canned corn beef, it can be so much better if you are willing to take the time. Today I was just in a hurry, I did not even have real eggs as I had run out and had to use powdered eggs which were not bad.
This is not one of my best recipes, but I think it is still helpful if only to show what not to do unless you are in a hurry and just want some hot food.
My next cooking video will be a lot better, it is an old and foolproof recipe for bread machine bread. I will also include a tip on how you can bake bread using a fraction of the yeast you would normally use plus show how doing so improves the taste and texture of your home-baked bread.

In this video I cook some huge oysters in a small deep fryer I got from Walmart for about $13. I use canola oil and try to keep it at 350°F. I made a blended fish fry from wheat flour cornmeal and bread crumbs with Italian seasoning and a tablespoon of cornstarch. I cooked the oysters for two minutes until they were crispy and brown outside. I did not make a dipping sauce and the choice it's practically limitless but in my experience, I find plain ordinary fresh lemon juice and a little salt and seasoning all that is needed for most seafood. The people who like to add hot sauce to their seafood always seem crazy to me because I prefer to enjoy the flavor of the seafood instead of hot sauce
I added a tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning but it was way too much I forgot I was only using 1 1/2 cups a fish fry a teaspoon would have been more than enough
oysters have a tendency to darken the oil you fry with more than other seafood for some reason and it doesn't seem to filter out as well as other fried seafood
Some cooks prefer to make a tempura batter that is wet but I find if you make a mistake you end up making a very oily mess of oysters whereas if you just use a thin fish fry coating it's a lot harder to make a mistake some people also freeze their oysters that have been breaded because they say it allows them to cook the oysters longer without getting rubbery so it can make the coating nice and crisp but when you use a small amount of coating that's not necessary because the time it takes is much less also when you have a lot of liquid in the batter it cools down the oil a lot and you need to make sure you maintain a correct temperature.
some chefs rinse off their oysters but many people claim that reduces the flavor however I'm not sure what the answer is to that situation but it seems to me most of the flavor is in the oyster not in the liquid on the outside of the oysters finally some people blanch oysters for 60 seconds in boiling water which supposedly removes any bacteria and makes juicier oysters but I would imagine the 350° oil will do a pretty good job eliminating that problem but it is an interesting concept and it may help seal the oyster to keep the moisture in when it's frying.
