Cerulean City’s gym leader, Misty uses Water type Pokémon. Don’t let any of your Pokémon raise their stats because Golduck can use Psych Up to copy off them. Driftveil City’s gym features a dark maze with areas that light up when you reach them for the first time. Keep lighting up areas and you’ll eventually find the gym leader. Clay uses Ground type Pokémon. In Challenge Mode, Krokorok holds a Sitrus Berry while Onix is added. Krokorok will summon a sandstorm that lasts for 5 turns and prevent foes from using stale moves with Torment. Sandslash will use Hone Claws to power up and Crush Claw to lower the target’s Defense stat. Onix will use Rock Polish to speed up and Rock Slide to make targets flinch. Excadrill will use Metal Claw to raise its Attack stat and Slash for critical hits. After the battle, you’ll receive the Quake Badge and a TM78 (Bulldoze). Bulldoze strikes everyone else on the field and lowers their Speed stat.

Stomp a Koopa and kick its shell to knock out enemies in a row. The more in a row, the more points you’ll receive. After a long path of knocking out enemies with shells, use the big stairway to reach the flagpole.

The Battle Dome uses a rule where 16 trainers compete in a tournament and are allowed to use 2 of the 3 Pokémon they entered with. During your 5th consecutive tournament title, reach the final round and you’ll battle Tucker. Using physical attacks on Swampert will make it use Counter to draw back the attack for twice the power. If Charizard uses Overheat, it will restore its lowered stat for once with a White Herb. Salamence can easily be taken out by an Ice Beam attack. After winning, you’ll receive the Silver Tactics Symbol and 10 more Battle Points to add with your streak.

At the Lostlorn Forest, where you found a TM95 (Snarl), there is a Hidden Grotto. Enter this Hidden Grotto and you might encounter a special Heracross. It ranges between Levels 20-25. It also has the hidden ability, Moxie. With this ability, the user’s Attack stat will go up after knocking out any Pokémon in battle.

Mistralton City’s gym contains giant fans that blow every few seconds, so quickly find green floors by walls to take cover. If you’re caught by the fans, you’ll be sent back to start or a couple of spaces by the wall behind you. Navigate a windy maze and you’ll spot the gym leader. Skyla uses Flying type Pokémon. In Challenge Mode, Skarmory is given a Sitrus Berry while Sigilyph is added. Swoobat will use Attract to stun opposite genders and Energy Ball to maybe lower their Special Defense stat. Skarmory will use Agility to speed up and Steel Wing to raise its Defense stat. Sigilyph will use Hypnosis to put opponents to sleep and Air Cutter for easy critical hits. Swanna will use Featherdance to sharply lower the Attack stat of foes and Roost to restore HP. After your victory, you’ll obtain the Jet Badge and a TM62 (Acrobatics). This move usually has a base power of 55, but if the user doesn’t have possession of an item, the move will do double the damage.

After you have all 16 badges, you have access to go to Mt. Silver. Enter the Silver Cave and explore the area until you reach the deepest part of the cave. In the deepest part of the cave, you’ll meet the toughest trainer in the game, Red. Pikachu will use Charm to lower Attack power then use Thunder to paralyze targets as well as finish them off with Quick Attack. Espeon will use Reflect to weaken physical attack damage for 5 turns and use Mud-Slap to lower the target’s Accuracy. Snorlax will use Body Slam to paralyze targets and even use Snore after using Rest. Venusaur will combo by using Sunny Day and SolarBeam. When its HP runs low, it will use Synthesis to recover. Blastoise will combo by using Rain Dance and Surf. Its Blizzard can freeze opponents sometimes even while you’re battling with Grass types. When Charizard uses Fire Spin or when Blastoise uses Whirlpool, there’s no escape for 2-5 turns. The levels in this battle are very high so Mt. Silver is the key place to train before this battle.

On Route 9, go west from Shopping Mall Nine and you’ll find a Hidden Grotto. Enter this Hidden Grotto and you may have a rare chance of encountering a special Bouffalant. It ranges between Levels 35-40. Be sure to watch for its signature move, Head Charge, which causes great damage and gives the user recoil damage. This Bouffalant also has the hidden ability, Soundproof, giving it immunity to sound-based moves.

The next boss is an artist named Ado. He will paint an ice dragon for you to battle. The ice dragon will charge while shooting an icy cold breath. It will also release ice block for you to spit back at it. After defeating the ice dragon, Ado will draw a glimmer fish. The glimmer fish will show sparks from the light on its forehead. If it releases a starfish, spit the starfish back. After you defeat the glimmer fish, Ado will draw a sun and moon. The sun will drop hit balls for you to spit at the moon. After the moon is gone, the sun will move all over the place and you must spit the hot balls back at it. Once after the sun and moon are defeated, Ado will draw Kracko. Kracko will shoot beams from its sides and release enemies for you to spit out. After defeating Kracko, Ado will come in to attack but you can easily stop him. After he is sent away, you’ll ride the Warp Star to the next world.
