In this video I give you the 4 stages that will be the best way to increase your vertical jump. These are the steps I tell beginners to take when they are trying to increase their vertical jump fast. This will be the most efficient, safest and fastest way to improve your vertical jump as long as you follow each of these in order, and do not skip any. Doing all of these stages in order is going to maximize your vertical jump potential, and will give you a very low risk for injury which is a big thing when vertical jump training.
1: Strength
This is the foundation of pretty much everything, and is a must for developing a vertical jump program. I explain in the video what my rule is for squat strength before moving on to the next stages.
2: Force Absorption
This step is one that many skip over, but is very important for training your body the proper jumping mechanics. Eccentric Squat, and Depth Drops are some good exercise examples for force absorption.
3: Plyometrics
In this stage we are doing force absorption plus force exertion, which is going to cause you to leave the ground in most situations. Box Jumps, Hurdle Jumps, Broad Jumps are some good exercise examples for plyometrics.
4: Explosive Exercises
A good way to explain this stage is that it is combining all three of the previous stages. Some good examples are Power Squats, Weighted Depth Jumps, and Power Cleans. My rule for this stage is to not begin until your squat has reached 1.5 of your body weight.

For this video I show you guys some of my favorite drills for change of direction, acceleration and deceleration for basketball. When we are talking basketball, the length of the court doesn't really allow us to get into our top speed. So the extra emphasis on change of direction and acceleration is going to be much more ideal when we are talking speed and agility. They all kind of correspond with each other, being able to effectively decelerate is going to help us to change direction faster and more efficient to lead into our acceleration.

For this weeks topic we are discussing flexibility vs rigidity (or stiffness) specifically for basketball. We get in depth on the potential benefits, and drawbacks of both flexibility and rigidity.
So in this video I tell you which one I would rather a basketball player be, and give you the reasons why. Most people, including me until recently, would automatically think that flexibility would be the one that you would want to be. Be some research and studies have discovered that rigidity is going to be the better option for basketball players.
The go to is going to be right in the middle, not too flexible and not too stiff. But if I had to choose one it would be stiffness. For both of these their will be injury risk, but if you are over flexible and are in a high performance, high intensity sport than the severity of the injury is going to be higher than it will be for the over rigid athlete.
The performance side is also going to favor the rigidity athlete. You are not as explosive when you are too flexible, because of the stretch shortening cycle. Your body has to go through a whole other step, causing it to take more time through the movement and slowing you down.
So the rigid athlete is going to be favored over the flexible athlete when we are talking about high intensity sports!

NBA G League Tryouts 2018 Update (Am I Going??)
Almost a year ago I made a video talking about me trying out for the G League this year. So I wanted to make an update to that video, I talk about if I am going or not and also talk about the challenges with it.
I have officially registered to tryout out for the Memphis Hustle on September 15 2018. I had almost talked myself out of going because it is so much trouble to do. I had a couple people comment on some recent videos asking about it and that's what helped change my mind. I also have great support from my wife, and I feel like this is something that I need to do. I am mainly doing this for my own self accomplishment and experience. And I also don't want to look back and ask myself what if. Their is a very small chance that I will make the G League, but their is a ZERO chance if I don't try. So even though it is going to be difficult to accomplish, I felt like if I don't take action now I might never do it!
As for the beginning of the video, I mention doing a Q/A video to celebrate the approaching 100 SUBSCRIBER mark! So if you have a question about ANYTHING make sure to ask in the comments of this video or you can also email me a question!

This is going to create the highest potential for your body to jump higher in basketball. For this video we will be focusing on the concentric part of the jump movement, so we will break it down in that way. Today we are talking about how caffeine effects sports performance, and if it is good for athletes to consume to help benefit them in their sport. I talk about how caffeine can be very beneficial in increasing your performance if it is used the right way. Most people that don't see any effect in caffeine as a whole, probably have it already in there daily routine. Research has shown that the best way to utilize caffeine to your advantage for performance would be to cycle it. Using it for a couple of weeks, but once your body starts to get use to it then wing yourself off of it for a couple of weeks. This is ultimately the best way to increase your performance when using caffeine intake.
