Things I Can’t Do Well One Handed 2: Winter Edition. Rolling Bales Out by Hand
In this December 4th, 2021 farm update, I get winded rolling out a round bale by hand. It was a nice crisp -10°c morning and I thought I could film at the same time as roll the bale with the forks. I was wrong, so I filmed and did it by hand.
Here you get to see the kids “help” Emily with taking down the mainline. Also you get bonuses content of Dallas moving the cows.
Rotational grazing has many benefits that you don’t hear about, such as the pure beauty of a late fall evening.
In this video Emily rolls out the hay bale with the forks on the tractor. We also go and call the cows over after we roll out the bale since they didn’t come to the sound of the tractor. Once the cows came over I go over to the shorthorn heifers and give Zenora some pats. I do apologize for the camera not being centred on Emily at the end but my fingers were cold and I wasn’t paying attention.
Here I do my first Farm Tools Review, the Stafix M36RS which is no longer available in North America under that brand. It is now the Speedrite 36000RS.
Other Fence Energizers to consider are Gallagher’s M10000i which has some cool features such as 100 stored joules of energy and wifi capability.
In this video we move the cows to their next paddock in the rotation and water the cows with the trailer tank. As you can see Hal was too distracted defending his turf to notice the girls being moved, so the bull took a little more effort to move.
In this video I do all the tasks to care for my 309 Cornish Cross Broiler Chickens and 44 Nicholas White Turkeys. From moving the tractors to feeding and watering. I also have a weird encounter with a song bird at the end of the video.
In this video we show off our new John Deere baler. Our tractor isn’t new so we have to take it easy. On the way out Emily films a muskrat with some cow parsnip in the lake. You also get a fairly in depth walk around with the cows while she waters them.
In this video we get to deal with the first real snowfall of the year. I’m also getting better at unclipping reels from posts one handed. Also Bill falls asleep on the job.
