MTA Subways: Myrtle Avenue Shuttle MTA Subways: Myrtle Avenue Shuttle (Featuring RFW views)
During the reconstruction of the Myrtle Avenue viaduct, the M was split into two sections.
One section runs between Forest Hills/71 Av (Essex St on weekends) to Broadway Junction. All M trains running on this section used R160A equipment.
The other section runs between Metropolitan Avenue to Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, with a transfer available to the L train. All M trains running on this section used R42 equipment, maintained by Fresh Pond Yard, due to the entire section being isolated from the rest of the subway system as a result of the reconstruction. Two 6-car R42 sets shuttled back and forth daily between these 4 stops, in both directions, so one had to listen to announcements to know which direction each train was heading to (two other 6-car sets were stored in Fresh Pond Yard as spares making a total of 4 6-car R42 sets).
Despite station and service notice signs along the isolated section displaying the current orange M, the rollsigns on the R42 equipent retained the brown M reading, which hasn't been used since 2010.
Central Avenue and Knickerbocker Avenue were temporarily closed for the duration of the reconstruction project, with shuttle buses running between Myrtle Avenue and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs

I personally prefer buying vintage turntables over new ones (I have a Kenwood KD-1033 manual turntable, a Yamaha PF-50 full auto turntable, a Panasonic RD-7673 with a BSR A-12 changer, a Panasonic RD-7703 with a BSR A88 changer), but each to their own.
