In this episode of Distro Delves, we're checking out Fedora 31 and comparing it against our baseline, Ubuntu 18.04 and seeing what it has to offer against other distros later in the series.
Fedora is a workstation & server-oriented Linux distribution, sponsored (and largely developed) by RedHat.
Of all of the "base" Desktop Linux distributions, I'd wager that Fedora is probably the 2nd or 3rd most popular & used. ~~ Support the channel! Becoming a Patron or Ko-fi supporter gives you access to the Egee video archive & good vibes for supporting my videos!

Ansible is a powerful configuration management tool that helps automate updating your systems and servers, among many other things.
If you're familiar with other CM tools like Puppet or Chef, Ansible functions very much like Puppet Masterless or Chef Solo. It is designed to automate system administration tasks without having to write and maintain a bunch of bash scripts. CM tools are the foundation of a solid DevOps engineer.
I used an Ansible playbook in this video, which is an integral part of the Ansible ecosystem. The ansible-playbook command makes it super easy to run playbooks with either Ansible roles or tasks, but you don't have to organize all of them in a playbook.
If you administer servers, whether they be Windows Servers or Linux Servers, it would behoove you to learn about configuration management. Powershell is often used in Windows environments however Ansible can run against Windows servers too.
Both Bash and Powershell have a strong tendency to get out of hand and result in code bases being unwieldy and difficult to maintain. CM tools like Ansible solve this problem entirely.

If you are having trouble with your laptop display brightness on Linux and your main GPU is Nvidia, this kernel parameter might fix it!
Note: this will only resolve issues with Nvidia gpus; it won't have any impact on Intel or AMD gpus at all! You are free to try it (it won't hurt anything) but it won't do a thing.
The kernel param is nvidia.NVreg_RegistryDwords=EnableBrightnessControl=1
Here's how I found the solution: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/brightness-not-working-ubuntu-20-04-lenovo-legion-5-15imh05/178058/17

Electron is an open-source cross-platform framework built from Chromium & NodeJS to ease the pain of writing desktop applications.
Lots of popular & successful desktop applications have been written with Electron including Discord, Atom, Visual Studio Code, GitKraken, and many more.
Electron allows developers to use familiar web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to write native desktop applications, *not* web applications that "act" like desktop applications but run inside of themed browser windows.
An application written with Electron on MacOS will happily run on Windows or Linux (Pop_OS, an Ubuntu-based distribution was used in this video) with native styling because Electron does not attempt to impose its own style; it adopts the system style.

Playing on the "new" map called Last Light which is a COD-like dense city map. Apparently it was a community map so it's not actually new.
Overall, it was a bit of a disappointment. Not sure which to blame, the map, the match settings or the AI. My main gripe about Insurgency is that the matches go on for waaaay too long and the AI glitch really amplified that here.
First, there are way too many players for such tiny "hold" boundaries.
Second, the whole map is closed off and maze-like which makes it feel like a discount COD map.
And lastly, the AI is busted (and apparently always has been??) on that one hold point. Again, I am baffled that the developers just left the map in there like that. Apparently this map is popular in PVP but why not pull it from co-op until it is fixed?
Round 1: 0:00
Round 2: 3:16
Round 3: 4:38
Round 4: 7:18
Round 5 (Where the AI really breaks): 8:39

It's time to look at the top 5 Linux distros to watch for in 2020! The Linux distributions in this list aren't the flashiest but there's reason to be excited for each of them as we enter 2020!
I've done videos similar to this in previous years but I hope to feature each of these videos as standalone Distro Delves episodes (yes, even SteamOS!).
Not all of the distros in the list are Linux Desktop distros and it sort of foreshadows future Linux distro review videos.
For folks looking for spoilers, here's the list of distros I talk about in the video:
* Ubuntu 20.04
* elementaryOS 6
* Solus
* Nitrux
* SteamOS
* openSUSE 15.2

Nitrux is (currently) an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution and works without a traditional installation. Instead, Nitux "deploys" as a whole resides in a single file and directory.
Nitrix is more-or-less a desktop Linux distribution pre-configured with decent defaults and a bunch of cool custom applications.
Nitrux focuses on the use of the AppImage format as the primary method of software distribution which makes sense due to how the distro is "Deployed" rather than "Installed".
