The life of my favorite New Martyr of the Turkish Yoke. Timothy became a “false” apostate – he feigned conversion to Islam in order to save his wife, and the story gets even more interesting from there. An excerpt, from a sermon entitled: “The New Martyrs of the Turkish Yoke teach us how to use our freedom, against the day when we are not free“

Theophany. Why was Christ baptized, why are we baptized, & what must resonate in our soul for us to be saved?
About why Christ was baptized, what happens to us when we are baptised. We also talk about the passage through the red sea, which points to baptism. Two kinds of people "passed" through the waters, but only one group was delivered. It is the same with Christian baptism, which has power, and purpose. If we do not live according to its purpose, we will not be delivered. If the words of the Apostle Titus, read today, which we discuss in detail, resonate in our hearts, nothing will keep us from our purpose and our deliverance.

O Lord grant mercy unto them that bear hatred or enmity against me, and also unto them that revile or slander me: That none of them may at all suffer any evil, whether in the present or in the age to come, on account of me, who am impure. But cleanse them all in Thy mercy, and protect them by Thy grace, O Thou who art good.

Part 4 of a series on the prayer of St Ephrem. We explain what "Idle Talking" is. This is the fourth sin/passion that the Saint asks about in the first line of the prayer: "O Lord and Master of my life, a spirit of idleness, despondency, ambition and IDLE TALKING give me not."

Many of us are burdened by our sins and may not be able to pray well, don’t read the Bible very often, and other things that we know we should be doing but for some reason we don’t do . How can we be saved? It’s real easy if we concentrate on doing one thing that everyone can do no matter what their spiritual state is, or how much they pray, etc. And the wonder is that the more we do this thing, the more everything gets better. “But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.” Mat 19:30
