Pause for relaxation and agency - SOAL guided meditation
SOAL is an acronym for Stop, Observe, Allow, Let go. This short practice relaxes our nervous system which helps us come back to our senses and increase our agency and ability to respond wisely to the circumstances of our lives.
Sometimes the harder we strive to achieve something, the further we push that very thing away. Non-striving is an attitude that helps us get out of our own way and learn effortless action.
We have a deeply ingrained habit to strive for improvement, success, possessions, or whatever it is. We tend to lose ourselves in all the doing, and we forget about our natural being mode. This is what Mindfulness is pointing toward: Sati - is about remembering what it is like to inhabit the being mode. And we know what this feels like (hence, "remember")! Afterall, we are human beings, not human doings or human havings.
