The Greater Los Angeles Press Club declared the exact same thing almost fifty years earlier. First popularized on the early NBC Kate Smith radio program in October 6, 1938 where this clip likely comes from, the show was placed in the Library of Congress National Recording Archives in 2003. The first radio performance on the March 24, 1938 Smith show has not been found. The sketch has its roots in various old wordplay Burlesque comedy routines even before the turn of the 20th Century.
