Our DIY vacuum tube computer hits an insane milestone today – we finish up the logic! All that’s left after this is building out the paper tape and running code on it. We’re so close, so come along as we finish off the last little bits!

Here she is running smooth! Still no oil injection though. It's going to take a bit of work to get that going. She fires right up with just a few turns of the key now though. Once the oil injection is sorted and I fix an exhaust leak she'll be tip top!

This is the first start since I put the engine back in. Still having some problems getting the oil injection system to work. It's like there is air trapped in the pump and no matter what I do it aint going anywhere. Going to take some doing to get that work. First start was a little shaky but she's running much better now!

We’ve been working on and off over the past few months, prepping for getting the Centurion Desk System up in Cincinnati at Butler Tech up and running. We ultimately decided to go for as turn-key of a system as possible, bringing my known good Hawk drive, a fully stacked CPU6 card cage and the knowledge that they all work happily together as has been proven at multiple events. But, things never go as smoothly as they should and we ended up shotgunning a hole in our filesystem!

This episode is so epic, I’ve split it into two parts! In this first part, we take a look at our basic inverter design and see if we can’t improve it some. Then, once we’ve got a design we’re happy with, we do some massive testing on a bunch of different tubes to see how they each perform compared to each other!

In this episode we put all of our knowledge about different tubes into one place and build some NOR gates, which we hook up into an SR Flip Flop. There’s lots of ways to go about building an SR Flip Flop and we take at three different ways on the breadboard.

Ever since I got the Centurion a few years back, that number one requested item I work has been the massive Data-100 chain printer. Well, that time is now! In the previous episode, we double checked the power supply and saw that it was good, so we are clean and clear for working on the rest of this beast. The title spoils it a bit, but we actually throw the switch and get it printing out some test pages today, and y’all were right, this thing is epic!

I was just recently up in the Northwest for work, and tacked on a little vacation time on the end. I only just got back and am still a little loopy from running flat out for nearly two weeks straight. So, let’s take a little break and meet the staff that keeps me on my toes and ensures that the videos are truly quality!

We’re back into the Centurion today, and boy howdy, things have been crazy the past two weeks! The story is an epic one, and it all starts with the Diagnostic Board and the code squirreled away in the little EPROMs on there. Today, we take a look at what that code is as well as the hardware on the Diagnostic board itself, and start to get an idea of just how cool this little board is.
All information on the DIAG board can be found here (DANGER, WILL ROBINSON, there be a lot of SPOILERS on that github!):
