The Midnight Hollywood Dancing Street Corner Cowboy, Part 1: On March 4th, I was driving home from Studio Bopnique West (at Paramount Recording Studios) in Hollywood, and I saw this guy on the corner of Crenshaw and the 10 freeway. He was dressed as a cowboy, including full length trench coat. He was dancing, pretending to play his guitar, and humping his rocking horse. The song on the radio at the time was pure serendipity. Through a bit of searching, I believe they call this guy The Crenshaw Cowboy.
It's a little hard to see from the glare of the car lights, but you see him a bit more near the end.
I drove by the same corner in daylight a few times. His gear was all still there on the street corner, but he was not. It's like everyone knew that was his corner, and nobody was to touch his stuff.
This guy needs his own tv show.
I have another video from the second night I drove by, which I will upload later.

Disclaimer: This has been uploaded for the sake of its own legacy. This documentary on the making of Abel Gance's "La Fin Du Monde" is a hidden gem of cinema which cannot be lost to time. We have enough lost films to contend with now, without adding this beauty to the list. If this documentary is ever released for purchase, I will gladly post a purchase link here and encourage everyone to buy it. As of now, this isn't available anywhere for purchase, streaming, or otherwise. As far as I can tell, this is the only copy of it on the entire internet. The combination of sound and visual here can only be described as pure magic.
"Autour de La Fin Du Monde" is a silent documentary (w/beautiful music) on the making of the 1931 Abel Gance directed film, "La Fin Du Monde". This documentary on Abel Gance's film was directed by Eugene Deslaw, and has a date of 1930 listed on it. Although this documentary is a non-talkie, Gance's "La Fin Du Monde" was the very first talkie film to come out of France. In fact, Gance invented a stereophonic sound system just to be able to properly present the audio. At the time, Abel Gance was known by many as the greatest film director of all time, and had already produced several of what are considered "masterpiece" films, including "Napoleon". Unfortunately, Gance's streak was ruined by the producers of this film. After 2 years in production and 500 million franks spent, they decided that he was taking too long and using too much of their money. They lost patience, took the unfinished film away from Gance, and edited it themselves. What was released was an unfinished Frankenstein of a film and a critical failure. Gance's career was never the same after they did this to him.
Personally, I think this 18 minute docu-film is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen/heard. We're not looking at scenes from a film. We're watching these people going about their lives behind the scenes. It's like we're looking through a window in time, watching the lives of all of these people in 1930. I could watch this 18 minutes in a loop for hours at a time.
I apologize for the captions and the website logo in the corner. The only copy of this I've found was from the guy who runs that website, and he refused to allow me a copy sans his logo. I've always thought it strange that people think it's ok to take someone else's work and post their own logo on it, as if that gives them some sort of ownership of someone else's work.
If anybody has a clean copy of this documentary, or knows how to get one, please let me know.
All copyrights belong to... whomever owns this now, if anybody. It may be public domain. Not sure. This is posted only to make sure that this beautiful film continues its existence and isn't forever lost on a videotape in some cellar in France.
