There's a piece of legislation working its way through the Texas State House, introduced by a Republican state representative by the name of Dade Felan. That will create a new group within the state government that is led by a chief appointed by Greg Abbott, the Republican governor of the state of Texas. And this group will be made up of both law enforcement officials and civilian volunteers. And it will act as a migrant hunting unit in the state of Texas. So this group of actual law enforcement officers and civilian want to be vigilantes, will get to go around the state. And the kicker is under this legislation house bill 20, they would also be given immunity for anything they do to these people. Not to the point where it kills 'em, you know, maybe no shots to the head, but couple quick body shots to the gut, right? To get 'em submissive. That's not lethal most of the time. You know, whack a knee cap or two, maybe shoot 'em in the foot, then handcuff 'em and send them back to wherever they came from. And they can't be prosecuted. As I said, this legislation is still making its way through the, uh, through the state house, but this is the wet dream come true for bigoted gun toting Texans. This is what they've been waiting for, the opportunity to go down to the border and beat the hell outta whoever we see coming across it don't matter. And that's what they will do. And this legislation would make that legal. They would have immunity, they would have law enforcement there backing them up. They would have the governor's own chief in charge. So this goes all the way to the top of Texas government protecting these individuals, engaging in non-lethal force against people coming across the border, which let's not forget, folks illegally crossing the United States border from Mexico into the US is a misdemeanor. It's a misdemeanor. No different than a traffic offense. Yes, obviously you, you can be detained, you can even be deported. But it's not a capital crime. It's not the kind of crime where we need to have vigilante groups out there knocking people in the kneecap with baseball bats. But that's what we could see along our southern border. So recently we learned, of course, that Jenny Thomas, wasn't just trying to get officials in Arizona to overturn the 20, 20 election results. She was doing it in other states, including Wisconsin. She was using an online form to, uh, basically send these emails. She only had to write it out once and she could send it to lawmakers here, there, and everywhere, begging them to overturn the 20, 20 election results. And at the time, yeah, that does create a bit of a problem for her husband Supreme court, justice clearance, Thomas. But does that rise to the level of conflict of interest? We would all like to think it does. But even when I was talking about that, I mentioned, I don't know that it actually does. So that was disappointing, but don't worry. Folks, lunatics always give us a second chance. And it does turn out that Jenny Thomas has at least on first glance here created a massive conflict of interest for her husband. Because even though you can't necessarily claim a conflict with her attempts to overturn the election results, you can claim a conflict for the fact that Jenny Thomas was linked to 51% of the right wing groups who filed Amicus briefs in support of the Dobbs decision to overturn Roe versus Wade, which Jenny Thomas's husband of course voted in favor of that is according to a new report came out last week from the guardians ed Pilkington. So let me read this. Um, there were 130 Amicus briefs total filed with the, uh, Dobbs decision, 130 some for some against, but here it is. This is from Pilkington of those 74 were filed in favor of overturning the right to an abortion enshrined in 1973 in Roe versus wait in turn. The new analysis shows that 38 of the 74 anti-abortion Amicus briefs, 51% were produced by entities and individuals with links to Jenny Thomas. They included right wing groups, religious interests, prominent conservative individuals and lawyers. The revelation that there is substantial overlap between Jenny Thomas and the anti-abortion lobbying effort focused on her husband and other conservative justices will intensify the growing sense of UNE surrounding her hyper energetic, conservative activism. So these groups, again, 51%, 38 of the 74 filed Amicus briefs lobbied her husband and the other conservative justices. And they were linked to her in some way or another either Through financial support, either through direct activism, partnerships, whatever it is, she was involved with these groups. And then these groups said, Hey, Jenny, we're gonna go talk to your husband. I don't know if they actually said that. I probably can't say that, right. That could be a little, a little bad. So I can't accuse them of doing that, but they did go and talk to her husband, whether it was through filing the Amicus brief or through their lobbying efforts. And Clarence Thomas of course voted in that five to four decision for Dobs when he clearly should have recused himself because the groups that he was talking to had shared interests with his wife, that is a massive conflict, not excusing yourself in matters where you have a massive conflict could be grounds for impeachment.
