USPSA Paul Bunyan 111112 Loke, Open Division Hatcam
After missing a number of matches, I got to take my Open gun out for a spin finally. It was freakishly cold and wet but I didn't care. Came in 3rd overall because I screwed up two stages royally with 2 mikes each. Anyway, till next match!
Sorry I have been radio silent for a while. Just trying to keep trudging along with building more updates to the game. I made some breakthroughs with the Texas star which was bugging me for the longest time. I also managed to get it working for the Oculus Rift and Touch controllers.
Apart from that, here's the laundry list (changelog) of items that was worked on for this release:
- Oculus Rift & Touch controller support
- Major / Minor Scoring
- Wheelgun & Bren Ten!
- Fixed scoring issue
- No penalty mikes
- Working physics based Texas Star
- Show gun specs, divisions in main menu during gun selection
- Modeled RMR on Glock 17 for Carry Optics
- Change G17 mag capacity to 17 to support new CO rules
- Fix menu brightness in some stages
- Audio bugs
- Allow adjusting of start position due to room size or preference.
- 180s don't DQ immediately, you have 2s increasing warning period.
- Flood lights on hand and weapon lights on all guns in Night stage
- Adjust timer fonts
- Improved quality of scene (big change)
- Re-position player when starting course
- Make bullets less visible
- Model different bullet-holes based on caliber
- Fix 180 bug when drawing gun
- Professional RO voice
- Simplified Reload mechanism
Those of you who are helping to test, you'll get an email link to download the latest build soon!
On to the next week!
Enjoy.

So this is my first time ever shooting multigun. It's a blast to shoot three different kinds of guns on the clock. The stress of remembering to make my guns safe and the extensive plan is a lot higher than the traditional USPSA matches I've shot. I'm sure if you do it often you'll get used to it just like anything.
My Contour didn't work very well today so I managed to get only two stages but you can see the massive failures at loading my guns, especially the shotgun. I only had like 15mins of practice a few months ago.
I can see why it's so interesting for the multi gunners but I think I'll stick to my Open pistol for now. It's a lot of work bringing three different sets of gear and ammo to a match.
Thanks to everyone who setup the match at Marysville Rifle Club.

So I listened to your feedback and I caved in. Two hands it is! I was pretty stoic in my position about using two hands to operate one controller to simulate real life shooting but I realized I was missing a huge part of the experience which was the reloading mechanic. Thanks to all of you and all your insistence, I came to realize that the lack of reloading outweighs the benefits of using two hands. This week's update should land shortly, please continue to give me feedback as I'm sure there will be some bugs to fix.
Here's the Changelog for v0.14:
* Two Handed support
* CM09-04 Pucker Factor Classifier
* Fixed ejection animation
* Fixed gun model issues with slidelock
* Adjusted reloading hit points
* Mags auto replenish in main menu
* State of guns is reset when switching
* Recording left hand & reloading
* Fixed revolver reloading
* Tweaked speed of movement
* Menu selector volume tweaked
Enjoy!

Had a few malfunctions today, I think it's caused by a weak extractor, not sure, will find out when John from JPL Precision takes a look at it tomorrow. Switched out to my backup for the last three stages and to my surprise, the backup has a nicer and faster trigger.

The Marysville range is well known as the most progressive USPSA club here in the NW because they are pioneering the use of full electronic scoring using the Practiscore application for the iPhone and Android platforms. The device we were using today was the Kindle Fire HD. It's simple to use/score, you get to see up-to-date rankings and it saves the stats-people many hours doing menial data entry.
Was a fun albeit a little short match, only five stages. It was cold, really wet and muddy, typically for matches in our section. I came in 2nd overall behind NickH our local GM.

Ugh I hate shooting in the rain. I keep reminding myself this fact every time but I just get sucked in to shooting a match. It's manageable but just so many things to think about, keeping optic dry, keeping hands dry and warm, remember to stow away cameras, wearing water proof shoes, wear a waterproof jacket or carry an umbrella, trying to keep a towel as dry as possible, having to clean and oil guns and magazines after a wet match or deal with rust etc. etc.

This year's Area 1 Championships was held in Idaho Falls and it featured 13 fun and varying stages. It wasn't super technical but it was a blast to shoot. Everyone had a chance to do well.
One of the stages (#10) got thrown out because of a rule misprint so we got to shoot it for fun. It featured a unique swinger mechanism that has two plates on either side to destabilize it. I believe it's called a Leo's Leaner. It's was fun to decipher and shoot.
I'm pretty happy that I had only three "Mikes" the entire match, I did however shoot somewhat slower than normal because of match pressure. I came in 10th Open, 4th Master.

A Huge THANK YOU to Tim and crew who spent weeks planning and executing this match.
