Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, Authors of DragonLance, the classic D&D setting and novel-tie-in series, have been abruptly left in the lurch by Wizards of the Coast. According to the author's side of the story, it had a lot to do with how rife with controversy and skeletons-in-closet the D&D portfolio has become. For my part, I think it has a lot to do with the fallout for an especially bad MtG novel that hit the shelves last year.
Grim Jim's video on the topic: (linking is not an endorsement or an indication of allyship with Mr. Desborough, but I think a diversity of media voices on the topic is nevertheless an important component of effective debate in a civil society): https://youtu.be/m9NCOH-NcqQ ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xe_KooHQUx4
THE OSR is starting to be pretty old! there are some fixed ideas about what an OSR TTRPG is. Does it have to be D&D based? Does it have to be minimalist? Does it have to be Fantasy?
These ideas have a starting point, which largely begins with the theorycraft that began with the Finch Primer. since 2009, many more folks have gotten rose-tinted vision looking at their RPG experiences of Old. What if the question "what is OSR?" had different answers?

For this video, I assume that you, the viewer, have a passing familiarity with tabletop RPGs, but are looking to dscover the world of playing and running games online. In this installment, I'll talk over the basic gatekeeper application to begin the process: you need to to be able to talk to each other to have a live session. Which programs are options, and why should you pick one over another?
This is the gateway to playing Tabletop Games when you can't get a good face to face option, and it's a way to play different systems and different kinds of campaigns than you might otherwise be able to. It's a chance to play if you only GM with your regular group, and Vice Versa.
Look for Regular Episodes of The Complete Guide here on the channel in 2019. Happy New year!

#RPGaDAY 2016 Day 8:
I have never been well off in life. But in cyberspace, I've been able to support with my own humble means, exactly the content I want more of. And not what a retailer thinks I want. I pay for none of the chome and nonsense of color glossy
I print on my humble laserjet in greyscale, toner save mode, and hole punch into my one luxury of upscale Staples-branded binders that use rubber spines.
I get to pick what I want from all the different decades of the hobby, and I get to sample and sometimes even try before I buy, something that is very difficult with print.
The FLGS doesn't decide what I buy or use at my table. And I can't afford to pay for things sight unseen, like Kickstarters (for now).
And I'm doing alright.
I do own a more or less complete copy of Hackmaster 4th edition, which I'm quite proud of.
I also have a big shelf of GURPS sundries, including a near complete GURPS Traveller line. And of course, like many, I have the trinity of 5E hardcovers.
Everything else is inside the computer, or printed out.

There are some inconvenient archetypes of people in the hobby. Everyone is welcome, but one must be wary of the kind hegemony that some folks will enforce on your interaction with the hobby.

This is a Hot Take on the Beta. IT is predicated on a specific culture of preferences in gameplay at Paizo and a certain out-of-touchness that seems to pervade the Paizo VIPs. They don't know why people play other RPGs; or why folks have chosen not to play theirs. But that's for the video....
I use a lot of icons from FlatIcons. They are Creative Commons-Attribution, and keeping a list of which ones for specific callout in the description is oustide of the amount of time I have on the channel. IF you would like an attribution to your particular icon, please PM me. In the meantime, I must thank all the Graphic Artists on FlatIcons that make my style of video possible.

In Mongoose Traveller Second Edition, each Ship Share is 1 Megacredit of Equity in a starship. It's understood that starting characters might pool their shares to begin with more equity.
In this video, we take a look at how Travellers that roll Ship Shares might have come by those shares. Naturally, it is rare that there are enough shares to provide 100% equity, these shares might be earned in trade for services, or they might represent salvaging a derelict but finding oneself in debt after rehabilitating it.
The prompts for discovering the prior history of your Travellers abound here and are an exciting opportunity to understand how the campaign arrived at the place where it begins...This video is an in-depth examination of possible answers to those questions
