This is just a day hike that I did recently in the Jackson Washington State Forest in Indiana. This hike is a training hike for a goal I set of finishing Mt. Elbert in Colorado. Back in 2017, a few of my friends and my son and I set out to do the hike and I fell way behind because I was so badly out of shape. They all got to the summit and spent time at the top and by the time I got within striking distance of it (13,300 ft), the weather started to come in. That has been a life regret since then and I need to rectify that. So I have decided to give myself six full months to train for it. The other reason for the hike is that I used to do way more hiking on this channel back when I was discovering trails in Indiana. I would like to get back to that as I really enjoyed the exercise and just being out in nature. My set date for summiting the mountain is August 12, 2022, and I will be ramping up my training in many different ways. I will be doing hikes, high interval training, rucking with a backpack and weights, as well as many other variations.
I used my GoPro 10 to film this hike and my Rode Wireless Go II for the Audio. My pack was a Waymark Mile 28 Liter pack (love that pack).

In this video I discuss an upcoming solo backpacking trip as well as the stove setup I plan to use. I also put the Solo Stove Alcohol Burner to the test by seeing how long it takes to boil water in inside conditions. I hope this video gives you some insight into this stove as well as some ideas for your own adventures.

This is the next couple of days after the Mt Elbert climb. We camped near Buena Vista, did some sunset timelapse, then the next day went to a camping area called Crestone and my group went to the Valley View Hot Springs while I explored Great Sand Dunes National Park. This was a couple relaxing days spent just hanging out around a campfire and exploring. Probably one of the best two days of the trip One of the hot springs I was able to go to was the Cottonwood Hot Springs which getting a cheeseburger and beer afterward just made sleep that night all the better. Hope you enjoy

This is my second annual trip to the Great Smoky Mountains to hike up to the Mt LeConte Lodge. This time around, I brought with me some friends and some strangers to share in the adventure. I had a few mishaps (like leaving my camera by Rainbow Falls) and I was really exhausted by the end of the hike. I still would not trade it for anything. I highly recommend hiking up to the lodge. There are some great views and a lot of history surrounding it. It was apart of the CCC during FDRs new deal. They also have cabins that can be reserved and the waiting list for these is really long. Overall I got to hike with some wonderful folks and we all enjoyed the stories that we told when we got back (that is half the reason folks do crazy stuff like this is for the stories). I plan on going back next year and kicking the mountains butt. Hope you enjoy

In this video, I showcase some of the websites that I use to find and learn about potential trails. I like to learn as much as I can about a trail before I hike it, whether it be a short 3 mile trail in a state park or whether it be a multi day hike. Using the links below will help you do your initial research so you can have a good understanding of the layout of the land, the mileage, or the structure of the trail. Some of the links below are specific to my area, but some of them are national.

This Trayvax RFID wallet was the one that I purchased prior to purchasing the Element wallet. I liked this one because of the price $24.99, and because it is slim and thin, however I found the other one more to my liking because of the style. This wallet protects against RFID readers and has other features as well such as a bottle opener and the ability to carry grocery bags. In this video I show some of the features as well as give my thoughts about it versus the element. You can find more information at Trayvax.com.

On my facebook group: The Outdoor Adventure Life, I created an event for this weekend for camping and hiking out at the Charles C. Deam Wilderness near Bloomington Indiana. I was really happy with the turnout and we all had a great time. I try to do events like this
at least once a month to get with fellow adventurers to enjoy the outdoors. If you are interested in joining the group, you can find the link to it here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/theadventurelife/
Please answer the three questions asked to be able to join the group and when I see the answers I can add you. The reason for this is to keep the group only about the outdoors and not let any solicitations or off-topic agendas to surface. So far that system has worked out very well.

Truck Camping Season has now begun! I decided to join my buddy Keith aka Trailmedic at Ferdinand State Forest in Southwest Indiana at the last minute. I am glad I did because I got to Truck Camp in one of the prettiest state forest campgrounds in the state. It is well maintained, clean, and has a beautiful lake for kayaking, fishing, and even swimming. There is an abundance of wildlife around as well. I got to see deer, geese, blue heron, chipmunks, squirrels, and even a groundhog on my drive out. I can't recommend this place enough. We had some great fajitas and just relaxed as the breeze kept blowing through the trees. I hope you enjoy this video.
