Wendy Woods reveals the powerful impact of collective cooperation in the social sector. Using the examples of different NGOs, each one working independently to eradicate malaria, she explains how their individualistic approach reduced their overall impact and resulted in fatal inefficiencies. When they finally aligned their overall mission, malaria incidents fell drastically in the region. Wendy is the global head of BCG’s Social Impact Practice and spends much of her time leading BCG’s work in global public health. She helps organizations develop strategies, create public private partnerships, and improve their operational effectiveness to deliver health interventions. Wendy has worked on HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, diarrheal disease, pneumonia and oncology issues across drugs, vaccines and diagnostics. Wendy has worked for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris and as a Senior Economist for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
