A playthrough of Accolade's 1993 port of the Dos PC Olympic games title, Summer Challenge.
Summer Challenge is a one of those gems that nobody seems to remember from back in the day except for those lucky enough to play it. Granted, the Sega Genesis version pales in comparison to its PC brother (they look virtually identical in screenshots, but the poor Sega just could not keep up with the real-time 3D graphics, utterly obliterating the smooth framerate of the original running on a 286). The framerate issues certainly aren't bad enough to ruin the game, but there are certainly some tight situations that develop because things get to choppy to precisely control the action.
That complaint aside, this game is great. It's easy to learn, nicely scalable in its difficulty, and looks incredible as a Genesis graphics showpiece running on stock hardware, even if it can't quite keep up with the developer's ambitions. :)
Played through on Amateur difficulty, all events successfully completed. _____ No cheats were used during the recording of this video.
