We’ve got a lot to cover today so Let’s jump into it. As you might already know, Future releases of power supplies are going to use a different standard called ATX 3.0. With this new standard a new connector for GPU’s is going to show up. Its a brand new 16 pin power connector that can deliver up to 600W with one bundle of cables. [...]
Then Igor’s lab confirmed that this new AD102 GPU would have a TDP of 600W. As insane as it sounds, i’m not surprised. Ever since the GTX 900 series, every generation after has been consuming more and more power.
At 600W, only one cable would be needed and thats the new 16 pin power connector. Oh… you dont have a power supply with the new connector ? Dont worry, you can probably get an adapter like this one that got leaked this week. Except for 600W you’d need one that takes 4 of these 8 pin connectors. That’s going to look like a mess in the case though. [...]
Moving on let’s talk AMD. Leaker extraordinaire Greymon 55 is back at it again with some juicy leaks. According to his sources, the next generation of Ryzen CPU’s based on Zen 4 would still stick to a maximum of 16 cores. Not only that, but the TDP of the CPU is a lot higher than Zen 3. The 16 core chip would go all the way up to 170W while the 12 core would stick to 105w.
Now if we compare this to the current-gen, all of the high end chips from the 5800X and up have a TDP of 105 watts. Now obviously, that’s the baseline. AMD’s Current 105w CPU’s typically consume around 140W under load. That’s because their package power tracking is set to 142W. If we take this and extrapolate from 170w, then a 16 core Ryzen 7000 CPU could consume up to 230W but, that’s just napkin math. [...]
Oh , and another thing about Zen 4. When it was announced, AMD said that the new platform would support the latest technologies. That’s PCIE gen 5 and DDR5. But they never said that they would abandon older technologies. Take for example the 500 series of motherboards. They were the first to introduce PCIE gen 4, but not all of them did. X570 was all PCIE gen 4, B550 only had the first slot and one NVME at pcie gen 4, and A520 didnt have support at all.
So maybe we’ll see something similar with AM5, but with the memory. That’s because, according to Greymon 55, in the I/O Die, the memory controller of Zen 4 apparently supports both DDR4 and DDR5. Now, we dont know if AMD will actually will support both at some point post launch, but I wouldnt be surprised if a B650 or A620 board popped up with DDR4 support.
Plus, intel will also support DDR4 for their 13th generation of Raptor lake CPU’s, so DDR4 isn’t out the window just yet.

It seems like in 2021, we’ve seen a lot of crime related to gaming tech. There was that story back in april this year where 300 crypto mining GPU’s were smuggled on a boat, thankfully they were unsuccessful, another story about a shipment of MSI 3090’s that were stolen, people on amazon getting Air Fryers in the mail instead of a PS5, and now, well we got 2 other stories.
HKEPC reported that a CPU smuggler tried to .. well smuggle 256 intel CPUs. Essentially, the driver was crossing customs and they thought the driver looked nervous so they requested a secondary inspection and they found those CPU’s, and I shit you not. Strapped to the man’s chest and legs. Dont believe me? Here’s a photo! The CPU’s were mostly 10th gen 10700’s and 10900K’s. Oh, and they also hid 52 more CPU’s in the truck too.
It’s pretty crazy the length at which thieves are willing to go. Honestly, they should have just stuffed them into their tires. You strap them on the rims, and then put a tire over it. It would cost what, 40$ a tire maybe? If you’re going to smuggle, do it right.

Remember the Russian legend who turned his RTX 3070 into an RTX 3070 ti… or super, or whatever you want to call it, the guy who added an extra 8GB of GDDR6 to it. Well, while he did say it improved the card a little bit, he didn’t actually review it fully. Instead, he sent it over to pro-hi tec, another Russian youtube channel, to do a full review.
I gotta say, I’m actually impressed by the numbers. While the average frame rate isn’t really affected, I mean you can see maybe a 1 to 2% increase, the larger memory really does wonders to the 1% and 0,1% Lows. This increase in performance for the lows gives you a creamier and more buttery gaming experience. Now that’s a 10.

Let’s get started with AMD. Ever since the RX 6000 series has been out, it’s been hard, nay, impossible to get your hands on one. Personally, I blamed scalpers. I mean, clearly, there’s a need here, and buying up GPUs to sell at a higher price seems like a no-brainer. But it turns out, the biggest culprit might be AMD themselves.
While it seems like Nvidia is at least trying to get GPU’s in the hands of people, whether it is scalpers, miners or gamers, AMD seems to simply put this segment, AKA, High-end desktop products, on the back burner.

Let’s get started with AMD. It’s very obvious that the GPU market is in shambles right now. Whether it’s from Nvidia or AMD, it’s extremely hard to find a GPU to buy. Not only that, but thanks to the pandemic and the expiration of tariff exemptions, the prices are pretty insane. You can see price increases that range from 80$ to a couple of hundred dollars on some models.
Well, if you want to buy your GPU at MSRP, specifically an AMD one, you’re gonna have to stop looking at your favorite online and retail stores. No more Newegg, no more fry’s, no more Canada computers.
You’re going to have to move that refresh button over to AMD.com. In an interview with Babel Tech reviews, AMD’s senior director Ritche Corpus said that the company is extending its production of reference design cards to make it available to as many gamers as possible. The best part, they will be available at SEP pricing.

Let’s get started with Microsoft. It seems like in march during the Game developers conference , the Xbox Team will unveil Xbox Live across pretty much all the platforms... We’re talking IOS , android , Nintendo switch and of course Xbox and PC.
Now to be clear, we’re talking about Xbox Live as a service, you’ll be able to login to a range of games using the same Xbox live ID and carry over all your achievements, friends, clubs, etc . Right now , you can already do that on some microsoft owned games like Minecraft, but Xbox wants this feature to be available to developers via their XDK. so they plan on opening it up so developers can focus on creating the game rather than a social infrastructure. Personally , I’m kind of hyped about this. It paves the way to many more possibilities. I’m guessing that the IOS and Android integration will be great for their move towards online game streaming with their project Xcloud. I do have a little bit of hope that this could actually mean we’ll get Xbox play anywhere on more platforms but realistically I dont think it will happen unless its a microsoft title.

Let's get started with Nvidia. The 4000 series is out, or at least partially out. We have the RTX 4070 ti the 4080 and the 4090. And the next one that should come up is the RTX 4070. Now, I dont know if you’ve been on Twitter, or if you follow some news websites, but someone apparently leaked the price for the RTX 4070.
So let's recap real quick. RTX 4090 ti- 1599$, 4080 1199$, 4070 ti , 799$ down from the old 899 price when they changed the name. and that's the MSRP, right? Well, according to Moore's law is dead, who leaked that info, the RTX 4070 would cost… 749. That’s 50$ less than the 4070 ti or a decrease of 6% in price for a 23% decrease in cuda cores aka performance, and a lower frequency range.
That’s insane. That can't be right. Right? Like it's a joke at this point. I mean I have to make you listen to it to believe that he said that.
Now you might think it's insane, but the reality is, it's possible. I know that Tom isn't always the most accurate source, but it's undeniable that sometimes his sources are right. And you can't forget that Nvidia is the company that in the past, almost doubled the price of their upgraded model for 10% more performance. I'm talking about the 3080 and 3080 ti here btw.
And let's remember, AMD isn't squeaky clean either. For only a difference of about 10% or 100$, the 7900 XTX is the obvious choice. Gamers nexus called it a greedy upsell. And that’s clearly what Nvidia could do here.

Let’s get started with AMD... or MSI technically. During MSI’s Insider show on youtube, Eric Van Beurden, their marketing director revealed that a new AMD microcode update should arrive next month. Essentially, the thing that AMD has been tweaking constantly since the release of Ryzen 3000. During the show, he said that this new microcode should bring 100 plus improvements which are not all about fixing issues but also adding features and other improvements. The state of Ryzen 3000 has kind of stabilized with most users seeing an improvement since the latest microcode update, although I do wonder what kind of features AMD could add. Maybe its all for the motherboard vendors. In any case, the new Microcode should make its way into Bios download pages in November.
Moving on to some gaming news it looks like Sony, Finally cracked. After a long time in beta, and only featured in specific games, Playstation cross-play is going to be a thing. It was already announced on some big games like call of duty modern warfare but it's still a gamble if game devs will take the time to retroactively enable it. Another good piece of news coming from the company is a price cut to their PlayStation now streaming service. It used to be a hefty 19.99 a month and is now slashed to 9.99. Considering PlayStation now has the biggest library of all streaming services right now at over 750 games, I'd say it’s a really good bargain. The only thing they need to fix now is the resolution. Right now, it's limited to 720p at 60fps from a PC.
