A new technology update concerning newer versions of Apple products (iPhone, etc), introduced as a way to "protect children" includes a self scanning (files) system for iMessage/photos, seeking out flagged/illegal material on iCloud (iMessage, photos), and could in the future possibly expand into other areas.
Technology is commonly repurposed, and I felt it was important to give my take on this important precedent.
What if the scanning system makes a mistake? What if it becomes repurposed under entirely new, widely broadened its scope?
What if it were used to crack down on political dissent?
We all want to protect children and this system is designed in such a way it suppresses criticism (who wants to speak against anything meant to protect children?). I'm concerned in the future this type of system, built in, could lead to self suppression of other types of speech/content, including political leaning.
"Self censorship, meekness and fear" are all included into study results of mass surveillance. The way I understand it, this particular system is completely automated. Which is better for privacy, but leave no room for oversight. Either way such a system is a threat to the future given how many cycles in history have led the world down dark, dangerous paths of the past.
Most could not see the rise of dictators decades ahead. It is best not to build tools that could be turned against something entirely different from their original premise.

My Pinetab Unboxing: Taking a first look at Pine64's Pinetab (Linux Tablet), thickness, weight, grib texture, its keyboard, resources, Youtube playback performance, thermal heat, ports, charger, and more.
It came with Ubuntu Touch preinstalled, which through multiple reboots, continued to flicker, until I was left with a black screen roughly 5min into the boot. Before I could finish the setup. BUT wait! Things get better... :)
So I threw on Mobian. Handled wonderfully (felt at least as responsive/performant as Pinephone- and maybe I shouldn't be so surprised: the operating systems and hardware specs are pretty identical). Going by previous attempts by others at a Linux Tablet, we've seen them come and go. Some were big, some small, most exceedingly thick. The Pinetab was surprisingly thinner than my initial expectations. Linux tablet progress.
Judging by first impressions on Mobian/Phosh, I see the Pinetab as a likely success story in Linux tablets w/focus on community/open source.
I will be testing battery life an working on getting things up and running (like SDR internally). This will be fun! This is the start of my Pinetab Vlog.
I will still be covering privacy in between vlog takes (and taking suggestions), along with Linux tutorials, and your best choices for free, open source, Libre software.
Why am I interested in Pine64 lately (since getting Pinephone)? They put more focus on software freedom than others such as Raspberry Pi. Down to the hardware, and future of hardware/RISC-V. This channel's focus is on freedom software, and human rights.
Like, Subscribe (with bell notification :)), and share this video! Let's help make Linux and future open source hardware a success. It helps this channel move up the rankings/algorithm. I can't do it without you. Thank you!

Zulucrypt offers many encryption options and here we use Pinephone in our example to create a hidden with Steganography Encrypted Volume inside an existing video file of our choice. I show how to do this on your Pinephone, Pinetab, or any other Linux machine.
This can be an excellent option to protect banking/financial/access codes, or the work of journalists in dangerous locations around the world.

Facial recognition surveillance cameras are already saving biometric data when we enter department stores, in many cases to flag shoplifters. These companies are even "networking" stores together making one giant human tracking system for those behind the cameras... No regulation currently exists.

I2P Network Is Currently Under Heavy DDoS Attack (Distributed Denial Of Service) By Spoofed Routers, Spawning By The Thousands - Some Locations Spinning Up 100+ Routers In A Single Hour. Networks Like I2P Are Vital To Protecting Journalism, Freedom, Liberty, Free Speech. We Report On This Today.
It appears the server locations for the i2prouters is China, though this does NOT necessarily mean China is responsible. Learn more about these attacks on the video. And learn what you can do to mitigate and take action to ban more malicious routers!
How These Networks Of Freedom, Work To Detect, And Ban These Malicious Routers / Relays; Ideally, Routers On Hidden Networks Behave / Appear -- The Same -- As Much As Possible; If Not, You Might Be Dealing With Something Averse...
Symbolic gesture signaling the success of anonymity networks / software: being under attack.
The truth is, those who work on free to the world networks, that which protect human rights / journalism... educating the population, while making free flow of information a reality, are the true "good guys" of the world.
At the same time, on the positive side, these attacks make the network more resilient, and lead to many improvements against.
#I2P #Tor #anonymous matters.
Is your work pushing towards the end goal of freedom for all? Or not?
The choice is always yours. And we will (together) collectively end up at the same destination.
Who / what are you fighting for? Our collective freedom? Or centralized power, control. Therein lay the 2 destination options.
We will (together) arrive as one.

Below install guide from: https://wiki.mobian-project.org/doku.php?id=axolotl
# Install Axolotl (How I did it for video- running axolotl now):
sudo apt update && sudo apt install golang nodejs npm mercurial python qmlscene
go get -d github.com/nanu-c/axolotl
cd $(go env GOPATH)/src/github.com/nanu-c/axolotl
go mod download
cd axolotl-web

npm install
npm run build
cd ..
mkdir -p build/linux-arm64/axolotl-web
env GOOS=linux GOARCH=arm64 go build -o build/linux-arm64/axolotl .
cp axolotl-web/dist build/linux-arm64/axolotl-web -r

How certain ISP's Proxy/Redirect DNS To Collect/Sell data. Is DNS over https right for you? Centralizing your DNS is another problem. Hardware torification is one valid solution: DNS requests bypass your ISP and are done via exit node, IP address more likely to leak with software only based solutions.
