A capital rioter by the name of Jason Owens got smacked down in court recently by a judge overseeing his, uh, felony case. After it was revealed that Owens was planning a trip to go overseas to Cabo San Lucas, basically traveling out of the country while he's awaiting trial for felony charges of assaulting a police officer during the capital riot, his son, by the way, is also facing the same charges, cuz I guess it was father and Sunday at the capital riot. And they went there together and allegedly assaulted a police officer. So again, felony charge that carries a penalty of many years in prison. And this guy, Mr. Owens won a trip to Cabo San Lucas through his business. He had already booked his flights. He had filled out a questionnaire, you know, his t-shirt size, his alcohol preferences, his diet preferences, which by the way is vegan, but not too strict, whatever that means.
And he did all of this before asking the judge, oh, by the way, is it okay if I go tra uh, take this trip to Cabo that I won. So the judge had to look at this and be like, you've already planned the trip before you even asked us, you didn't wait. You just didn't hesitate. You knew you were a waiting trial on felony charges. You idiot. And you just said, ah, the judge cleverly smacked down this request and said like you're vegan, but not too strict. You clearly thought the court's policy of no unnecessary foreign travel was not too strict is what the judge said. But unfortunately it is strict. And the judge says, no, you're not going to Cabo. You are not traveling outside of the United States. You are facing felony charges for your actions, you and your son. And you're gonna stay right here in the United States until this whole matter is resolved.
And that could possibly mean the matter being resolved after you survey couple years in federal prison for again, assaulting a police officer. But this is the level of just sheer stupidity, not to mention privilege that these capital R rioters are exhibiting like this guy thought nothing of it. Obviously he had been told the conditions for his pretrial release, cuz that's legally what you have to do. You have to tell these people no unnecessary for a travel, which means of course, if you have to travel overseas or you're going to lose your job. Sure. We could make exceptions for that. Maybe if you wanna just go hang out in Cabo for a weekend, sorry, not gonna happen. You know, uh, uh, you can't get in trouble, no speeding.
Things like that. That's typical pretrial release, right? You can't get drunk. In some instances, you know, we might submit you for random drug testing. So I have no doubt that this individual was told the conditions of his pretrial release. And the reason I have no doubt about that is because he did go to the judge eventually after he'd already planned the trip and booked the tickets, he did ask if it was okay for him to do this. So he knew he had to ask. He just didn't bother to do it because in my estimation, I think he's an idiot. I think all these people are idiots, but I think the judge said it best when you said, I guess you thought our policy was not too strict. These people think they can do whatever the hell they want. And that of course is why many of them did what they did on January 6th.

Rudy Giuliani's legal problems got even worse this week as he was hit with a lawsuit from his former lawyers who dumped him back in July over the fact that he hasn't paid his legal bills. The lawyers that have filed suit against him said that initially Rudy Giuliani had been charged $1.5 million over the span from, uh, November of 2019 through July of 2023. So during that time, he racks up $1.5 million in legal bills, and then you have to subtract the, uh, was it $214,000 retainer that he paid them. So he gives him a retainer, you know, the initial like, here's the lump sum of money so that you continue supporting me. And they're like, okay, we'll do your legal work. And then they continue to bill him, you know, every month essentially. And then for almost four straight years, he just didn't pay it, right? The retainer is not necessarily like, okay, this is work for six months.
It's just saying, here's the money I'm giving you as basically a down payment. I still have to make the monthly payments like when you buy a car. Here's what the lawyers said in their filing from on or about November, 2019 through on or about July, 2023, plaintiffs provided legal services on behalf of the defendant. The legal services included, but were not limited to representing the defendant while he was being criminally investigated by the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, representing the defendant during a pending criminal investigation in Georgia by the Fulton County District Attorney's Office. Were representing the defendant during a pending criminal investigation by special counsel Jack Smith regarding the January 6th attack on the US Capitol and representing the defendant during a pending investigation by the US House Select Committee to investigate the January 6th attack on the United States Capitol.
So like we're representing you here, there, everywhere, every like le legal problem you had, dude, we were right there. We had your back the whole time. All that we asked in return was that you pay us for our work. 'cause obviously some of these things did not result in criminal charges. But that doesn't mean, like, that doesn't mean you don't have to pay Rudy. And we also all know that Donald Trump just held a fundraiser for you a week or two ago up in Bedminster. You raised money off that. How about you use that money to pay those lawyers? I mean, kind of seems like you probably could have avoided this entire lawsuit. Granted you'd be paying 'em late, but if you just took what you just raised at Bedminster, just gave it straight to these guys and said, cool, now we're square. Right? But you didn't do that. Rudy Giuliani's legal problems have of course been throughout the headlines over the last couple weeks. Uh, we know that he of course, is facing a big settle, not settlement, but verdict, jury verdict in the, uh, Georgia Defamation trial with Ruby Freeman and Shay Moss. He's got thematic and Dominion voting systems lawsuits against him. He's got the, uh, sexual harassment lawsuit against him by the former
Staffer. He's got the criminal charges in Georgia. So he's got a lot of money he's gonna pay out very soon, but when word gets out that he can't pay his lawyers, that is going to scare away every decently talented lawyer in this country. Because if you can't pay, most of the time these defense lawyers, they don't like to do things pro bono unless of course it's more of like a charity case.

The crime wave is a very real deal. I don't know why they won't, why they don't say, yeah, it's real. I mean, people are leaving San Francisco. I saw an article the other day, CEO one of the biggest corporations in America, gunpoint robbed at his front door of his home.

He makes this, goes on TV and makes this huge statement says, it's irreversible. We can't solve the crime problem. So I mean, this isn't, this is coming from a whole host of different areas. But back to the water. Water seems to be the last thing. It's got arsenic in. It has nitrites in it. They've suffered from a drought, so there's not enough water. And then it has PFAS in it as well. So you look at this whole picture and you say, uh, I don't know, man.

Maybe it's time to get out.

This week during a pretrial hearing, Donald Trump's former trade advisor, Peter Navarro, asked a judge to just go ahead and get rid of these contempt of Congress charges against me. Uh, here's the thing though, and this is really what judge me should have said. If Trump told you on February 20th, 2022, a year after he left office, that you had executive privilege, then you're an idiot. You see what meta didn't say in the ruling, and this actually kind of drives me crazy, is the fact that there's only one person at any given time that is allowed to declare executive privilege. And that person happens to be the sitting president of the United States on February 20th, 2022. Donald Trump was not the president of the United States. So it doesn't matter if he tells you you have executive privilege because he doesn't have that authority. So your argument is total bull crap.
Like why, why didn't the judge just say that? I, look, I agree with the judge's ruling the judge's, right? You've provided no evidence, but you needed to take it that extra step and be like, listen, I don't care if Trump told you that there's rainbows on the moon. That doesn't make it true. He didn't have the authority to exert executive privilege. You don't have the authority to try to invoke it, to avoid testifying in front of the January 6th committee. And of course, now that that committee is no longer in existence, Navarro is not gonna have to go and testify. He does not have time to change his mind. But he is under two charges for contempt of, uh, Congress. They're both misdemeanors, uh, punishable each by up to one year in prison. So at the very maximum,
If convicted Navarro could be looking at two years in prison, it's doubtful that he is going to get that full sentence. Honestly, it's doubtful he's gonna go to prison at all for contempt of Congress. But if his best argument for not complying with this is, Hey, Trump said I had executive privilege, then I think the prosecution is gonna have a pretty easy case when all they have to do is stand up and say he wasn't president when he told you that. So it has no legal bearing in this court. And maybe that's why meta didn't say it. Maybe Meta's just waiting for the prosecution to make that argument and then send Navarro down the river. We'll find out. 'cause again, that trial is starting on Tuesday.

According to a new report from Morning Consult, Republicans running for office in the year 2024, mostly on the presidential side, but also to a degree in the House and Senate side, have a major conservative media problem. And it's a conservative media problem that by the way, even R N C Chair Ronna McDaniel has pointed out to the party begging them, stop ignoring all of the other media in this country so that you can just go and have your little softball interviews with Charlie Kirk or newsmax or Fox News. You're not reaching new people and you're not expanding your base. And that, by the way, is exactly what this New Morning Consult report found. More and more Republican candidates are choosing to ignore A B C C B S N B C M S B C, cnn. God knows they're not calling us here at Ring of Fire to come on the air. They used to back in the day, but not anymore. They don't wanna go on those other major networks. Ron DeSantis has officially announced that he has boycotting N B NBC and MS N B C cuz he's unhappy with Andrea Mitchell.
So what does that leave you? That leaves you talking to audiences who 100% agree with everything you say. Those are the people who were already gonna vote for you. If you become the nominee, they will vote for you. So you're talking to people who don't matter to your campaign. Oh sure, maybe they matter in A G O P primary, but let's face it, we already know who's gonna win the G O P primary. I mean, unless Trump is literally behind bars at the time the voting starts, he's gonna win. I mean, even if he is behind bars, he could still technically win. By the way, there is nothing about being in prison that forbids you from being the president of the United States. Like Trump could literally serve as president from behind bars because if it's a state prosecution, he couldn't even pardon himself for that. So, he would literally have to be president from prison and that's like, we would just have to deal with that. So keep that in mind because that's something stupid that unfortunately is actually a possibility. We can't rule it out at this point, but if these candidates, if it's Donald Trump or or Ron DeSantis, or Nikki Haley, or whoever the hell it is, if these people continuously only go to the friendly networks, you will not expand your base. In the United States, and at their height when they get most of their viewers, it's still less than 1% of the overall US population. So if these people only stick to conservative media outlets and you add all of the audience together, even though there's a lot of overlap, you're looking at at best 3% of the US population getting reached by these Republican candidates only talking to people who would already be voting for 'em. 97% of the country doesn't get to hear your message. 97% of the country doesn't get to know you, but they'll get to know that other guy, the one who's been president, he'll go on the other networks, he'll probably even go on Fox News, he'll show up at debates. We don't even know if Republicans are gonna be showing up at the debates folks. And that's the real get to know the candidate thing. Republicans have a very real problem and Ronna McDaniel's more than willing to admit it, but she can admit it all she wants.
