These truck are quite comparable. both take 2-3s lipo, 4WD, small size and pack lots of power for the size, they are also both fairly annoying to work on and have mostly plastic construction with metal drive lines.
The good points of the Savage XS are:
Lighter weight
Runs very well on 2S
Parts are very cheap
Shell looks much better
So far the chassis seems strong and durable
I think the main points which let the Savage XS down are:
Tyres don't grip well on dirt
The suspension setup is not as well tuned as standard
The ESC and motor in the Savage XS are not providing very good punch in the current setup.
Gears and drive cups seem to wear and break more than they should.
Smaller wheels and tyres with less ground clearance
I would like to try some Proline dirt hawg's and the Ground Assault tyres, they are both 2.2inch from the Nitro MT and will also fit the Savage XS. But first i need to sort out which motor and ESC combo is best.

In this video you will watch me modify the socket of an Asus P5Q Deluxe LGA775 motherboard to fit the Socket 771 CPU's.
Link to the online guide i used and info on what chipsets will work with this mod:
http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/365998-mod-lga771-to-lga775-cpu-modification-tutorial/
I will best test my motherboard with both an X5450 and X5460. I will be comparing them to a Q6950 and a QX6950. The quad core Xeons cost somewhere between a high end C2D like the E8400, 8500 and 8600 and the 45nm C2Q like the Q9450, 9550 and 9650.
I apologies to Harry if i said your name wrong.

Just finished installing the wheelie bar on on the Savage XS SS. Thought i'd just take it for a quick test drive around the garden. Its still extreme wet and cold, so i just ran a single 2S pack through it. I am using the body shell from the RTR truck i picked up recently. Once the weather is warmer and nice, i will be able to paint the New body for the SS to make it look a bit different from and RTR truck.
I was not really impressed by the motor and ESC, there seemed to be quite a bit of hesitation on the throttle and the motor had trouble getting going. I'm not sure if the gearing is a bit too high for this motor or if the ESC just isn't very smooth on startup.
