Why Athletes Should Make Sprinting Feel Easy | The Great Athlete Tip
Want to get quicker times in your 100m or 200m or even 400m. Then you have to make your sprinting feel easy.
When it's easy, you're relaxed and when you're relaxed, you're powerful.
However, athletes nowadays do not have that goal. We have a society heavily built on the virtues of effort and hard work and this infiltrates sport. Athletes are not looking to find there sport easy and for this reason, hard work is front and centre of ttheir training.
I argue this as a bad thing and totally contrary to how the human body is supposed to function.

Subscribe to this channel to learn more about relaxation for #sprinting. In this video, I talk about the trap many athletes fall into. And to fall into this trap causes athletes and especially sprinters to not achieve and to lose motivation. #Athletes and sprinters are normally so focused on their goals that everything else pales into insignificance (including what they are doing now). The goal becomes their obsession. The problem is that this becomes a want and under these conditions, the body will tighten up and suck the power out of you. The reason being that you are not relaxed because your body senses that you are not thinking in the here and now. Tighteness will always lead to substandard times. In this video, I talk about
1. The societal myth most people, inc athletes, are taught that ruins results
2. Why this desperation for the end goal hampers athlete's performances
3. The downside of wanting your end goal too much
4. Why hard work and hard training is not enough and what you need to make hard work work for you.

Are you fully committted athlete who is training consistantly and hard? You might think that training hard is all you have to do to gain all the fitness but fitness is much more than the training you do. Fitness includes how you are and how you are dictates the quality of training you do.
For example, our phones are almost an extension of our arm. what we say and read and think about on social media atcually takes us off centre and into a stressed and anxious state. This state is a bad base to train from as you are not only unhappy but you are physically weaker and more prone to injury. If you are in a relaxed state, this is you in your natural state and its from here that you will perform your best. The Muscle activation method I use helps you with this. Remember fitness is not just the physical training you do, it's how you are. Make your mental state part of your training each and everyday.

Mobile phones play a massive part in our life today. They now dictate a lot of what we think about during the day. It's a clever way of how we are manipulated. We, as sprinters and athletes, must be aware of this if we are wanting to get quicker times and reduce injury risk because, believe it or not, phone addiction is one of the problems preventing you from sprinting relaxed.
It's well documented that cell phones have been linked to higher anxiety issues in young adults and the problem is that what you think about and also your daily habits play a massive part on your performance in training. In fact the quality and effectiveness of our training is dictated by your habits outside of training.
One of the culprits is mobile phones. If you are serious about incorporating more relaxation into your sprinting then you have to consider how your daily habits and your mobile phone hinder you from doing this.
This video goes into that more.

So what is the key to a great block start in the 100m or 200m? #Blockstarts are the foundation of any form of #sprinting. Get a good start and this sets you up perfectly. So sprinters, you're in the blocks, you're ready to go and blast out and dominate the race. What should you be thinking about? Keeping low? That first step? Well no. You should be thinking very little because the present moment is more important than anything you've got to do. This will be the foundation for your sprinting technique. So when you're called to your marks, you should be taking a few deep diaphragmatic (belly) breaths as you get into the blocks. To learn how to breathe correctly, go here. This is a veyr under appreciated but crucial skill. Link to correcct breathing technique at the end of the description. As you wait for the set, you should be breathing and in the present moment. When you hear set, you should be calmly waiting for the gun. This is where you will be at your most powerful and this sets you up for a great race for you. Relaxation is crucial to optimal sprint performance and is severely underrated in sprint training.

Athletes love to learn about new exercises and new stretches and new techniques that will improve their training and performance. This is all fine but it's not going to make that much of a difference unless you find out what you are doing and htinking that is slowing you down. This is why self growth is so important for great sports performance. Truth is, without finding out about what's hampering you, all those tips and techniques, exercises will be vastly compromised in their usefulness and benefits. This is essentially finding out about yourself and if you don't then your body has no foundation. Your weaknesses will always win because 1. You don't know what they are and 2. you don't know where to look. The question you need to ask yourself is what is keeping me from being relaxed and being in that flow state on the start line? What are the habits that I have picked up that are causing me stress throughout my life and which linger with me and make me tighten up when I run? This invloves a lot of self reflection otherwise your mind and body will always be shut down and running on a survival state instead of a performing state.
