Return to Nature - Foraging for Pungent Wild Plants - Smartweed and Garlic Mustard
This is a look at 2 wild plants that can be found just about anywhere in the United States. Garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata), and Smartweed (Polygonum hydropiper known also as Persicaria hydropiper).
Using this smartweed species sparingly like using hot pepper really adds a strong kick, it can also be dried and used to sprinkle onto foods.
Garlic mustard is a delicious pungent tasting plant and is edible from the leaves, to roots, to seeds. The leaves can be eaten raw or cooked, the seeds and roots make a great wasabi like condiment.

Foragers broadcast Ep. 49 - Herbal Discussions and Dietary Awareness
In this episode of Foragers Broadcast, Dan de Lion of Return to Nature (www.returntonature.us) discusses live from the herbal apothecary, where he discusses many herbal topics, including dietary awareness around the oversimplified ideas of any particular "dietary religion" and how localizing may be the most ethical and sustainable answer, even if that includes some animals, instead of shipping exotic foods wrapped in plastic with fossil fuels all over the planet.
This episode is sure to ruffle some dietary feathers. In peace, and medicine!

This was a fun and inspiring interview discussing foraging, fermentation, alchemy, and returning to Eden - March 20, 2013
" I was blessed to get the privilege of having a great conversation with Graham Steinruck and Jackie Rebideau on their radio show "A Fermented Affair". It was a really fun conversation and I instantly felt a kinship with them as we talked of all things bacteria, fungi, and culture. Its always a recharge to meet and connect with kindred souls who are helping to spread "cultural" diversity around the planet! We talked from alchemy, to fermentation, to foraging, and the return to Eden."

Mahanrishi kindly asked me to play, i asked Vinnie Smith to come play tabla, when i got there we met a violin player, then our friend Karttikeya showed up with a hang drum and cajon. and we decided that we were going to be a band that day. This song I wrote when i was in a band called Natural Breakdown. The intention of the words are to remind ourselves that we are all one divine soul together as mirrors of each other. and that we are the source that we seek. OM
