I was told about the blue polish for precious metals from japan being very good so bought some to try for myself. I purchased at the same time a Japanese equivalent of the tripoli grease that's usually used in the UK .
I wasn't disappointed!

Working in copper at the moment whick I have not done before.
I imagine all of us jewellers are interested in different metals and how they differ from each other.
Today I learned annealed copper is very very soft but can be hardened considerably and a copper soldered join is stronger than the metal it self! I couldnt break it!

Calling for new patrons!
With patrons support I will be able to offer far more information than I am currently able to.
With nearly 25 years of knowledge gained in the jewellery trade working with some of the best diamond mounters in the UK I can train practitioners of jewellery making, up to and far beyond the skill level usually found in High Street jewellers workshops.
Become a classic patron and you will not only be able to view part 2 of full instructional guides but also be thanked personally on the next youtube upload! You will also have access to all future uploads 2 weeks before they go live on youtube.
Official patrons have all the benefits of a classic patron but also gain access to regular exclusive content. Behind the scenes, personal jewellery projects Im working on, I share ideas for future videos, photos and stories from throughout my career as a professional jeweller.
Also Official patrons are welcome to suggest ideas for future videos and contact me anytime if they need advice for their own jewellery making endeavors.
Classic patronage is just £5 a month and to become an Official patron costs only £10 a month making Diamond Mounter patronage by far the best value way to gain access to online jewellery making courses.
As the number of full instructional guides continues to grow the value will be even more considerable.

In this video I document the work involved to clean up a casting of one of my most popular 'Century in the Sea' skull ring designs.
I wanted to show how much work goes in to the ring to prepare it for sale. There is lots of choice when looking to buy a skull ring but from a jewellers perspective 99% of the rings available are simply poorly polished mass produced castings.
You can watch the attention to detail I give each ring.
The tools and techniques are the exact same I used to carve up the original master in wax.
This ring was purchased online from Holland. It needed extra work to be made quite a large size before I began cleaning up the details.
If you are interested in purchasing one they are available from Etsy and my website at:

The channel has potential to grow in to a great archive of jewellers knowledge with your help.
With patrons support I will be able to offer far more information than I am currently able to.
With over 2 decades of knowledge gained in the jewellery trade working with some of the best diamond mounters in the UK I can train practitioners of jewellery making, up to and far beyond the skill level found in High Street jewellers workshops.
I have been lucky enough to have been taught by actual Bond Street shop model makers and my ambition is to share what I have learned through out my career to as many people as possible.
My vehicle to do this is the Diamond Mounter YouTube channel and now after nearly 1 year of uploading video guides, its time to take it up a level.
My ambition is to be able to make instructional videos with not just silver, but gold and platinum also. Some proper jewellers soldering equipment will enable me to create much more special pieces too! This will open up a whole new world of information I have to share.
There are many specific methods and techniques used for the different precious metals and knowledge about gemstones I can teach that will never enter my videos unless I am actually working with them.

Recently I visited a ¥100 shop here in Japan to buy sketch pads and batteries and by chance I saw a few tools that jewellers use! They had fine drills, burrs and these polishing felts.
I actually need to replace my worn out felt piece so I bought them with hope that they are suitable. My experience of very cheap tools in the past though tells me that will not be.
Lets find out!
I have recently join Patreon!

With this channel I will share with you methods and techniques I have learned over the previous 24 years as a professional jeweller.
I specialize in high end bespoke pieces made the old fashioned way by hand.
I wish to document everything I know, continue to learn and make accessible to everyone rare skills and techniques only usually taught in high security jewellers workshops.
