I've been getting a lot of questions lately following some videos of Marine One landing and taking off at the White House without the presence of any other support or 'decoy' helicopters nearby. People have been asking if this is always the case, so I've gone through my old videos to try and show you what I've seen.

PenguinSix is an apolitical guy in a political town who likes to walk a lot. He has hiked over 17,000 miles (27,000kms) in the past six years and is still walking today. He is an American expat who spent the last decade in Hong Kong with his family and is now back in Washington DC, continuing his daily ritual of taking very long hikes around the city catching the sights and sounds of the city while live streaming to share with others. History, culture, life as an expat (with reverse culture shock), and the patheticness of the Chinese food in Washington DC are regular topics of discussion. The situation in Kabul has cut short a planned vacation at Camp David with Marine One returning to Fort McNair due to South Lawn construction and a Presidential motorcade zipping through the city prior to a national address today about Afghanistan. We also take a quick look at the Afghan Embassy in Washington DC (many cars outside but no visible activity) as the situation on the ground in Kabul is constantly in flux.

All of Washington is looking to the US Congress waiting for something to happen on the government funding and debt bills, but while that was going on I decided to take a spin around the city and just take in the sights and sounds of Washington on a nice Fall Day. We visit the White House and the monuments and take in the beautiful sunset over the reflecting pool. No motorcades or helicopters today. Just the city.

My first video from the arrival of Tropical Storm Pakhar over Hong Kong early in the morning when the winds were still pretty heavy.

On a really cold Monday morning Marine One made it's way out of the White House landing zone and off to Delaware, leaving behind some moving trucks in front of the White House (possibly removing all the Christmas decorations?). We also saw a steam tunnel venting out a tremendous amount of steam and took the subway because I couldn't be bothered to ride a scooter through D.C.
