My horror reading wrapup for May and to-be-read for June has a bridge book and one that I didn't get to - mostly because I added two books to the list. Bonus skulls! My sister gifted me a small bear skull and a hefty moose skull. Ethically sourced, and a little piece of home.
Quite a few of these are free ebooks or really low cost, so if you want to get started with Kindle Unlimited, check out https://amzn.to/3LWRtti
If there is anything you think I ought to read, let me know. You can leave a voicemail here and I may play it on the show! https://www.speakpipe.com/TypicalBooks

If there are #horror books out there that you think I ought to read, let me know. I talk scary books, extreme horror, classic, gothic, and everything in between. Helping you find the next best horror book to read is the goal, and sharing new and old horror from my #booktube shelves and new releases is how! Horror, nonfiction and even true crime can be found here as I find that human beings are the scariest thing of all.

Today we are talking about Island by Richard Laymon. One of my top five Laymon books. I have the Leisure edition, published in 2002, but the original 1995 copy has the far better cover.
This is a perfect beachy read for those that like wilder fare, and a great way to start off the summer... it's not even June yet but here we are on a deserted island.

No review - but a video where I answer questions from the #booktubenewbie tag. Enjoy!
Ten questions in under ten minutes. Since I do use the Booktube tag and follow a few booktube accounts, I figured I would join in. It was a fun video to make, and I do have a few reviews at the ready so it won't be long before we return to plain typicalbooks.
Why did I start this channel?
What are some fun and unique things I can bring to Booktube?
What am I most excited for about this new channel?
Why do I love reading?
What book or series got me into reading?
What questions would I ask favourite booktubers?

A five star true-crime read. Pick up a copy: https://amzn.to/392UM1h
This is the only book-length work by Michelle McNamara that was published posthumously. There is a related podcast and a docuseries on HBO.
Known as the Visalia Ransacker, East Area Rapist, or Original Night Stalker; the Golden State Killer is a serial killer, serial rapist, burglar, and former police officer guilty of 13 murders, 50 rapes, and 120 known burglaries in three one-man crime sprees across California between 1973 and 1986. Part of his behaviour includes obscene phone calls, hang-up calls before and after the crime, stalking, and possibly written threats or taunts.
Joseph James DeAngelo Jr., 72 years old, was arrested for these crimes in April 2018 and given more than 12 life sentences.
I first heard of the Golden State killer after listening to an episode of the Generation Why podcast: https://podbay.fm/p/the-generation-why-podcast/e/1447693531

Suggest a book! I like horror, and that is really all I want to cover. Although I am getting into books that actually frightened me or that shaped me as an author, I like making typicalvideos so want more books to read.
http://twitter.com/typicallydia or find my email address on http://typicallydia.com
subscribe if you simply want to creep along and watch. thanks!

I cover books I have read that have taught me something about my own writing, or were printed in an atypical way. Sometimes, I just have something to say about typicalbooks.
