On my boxing day hike, I stumbled upon a fence in the middle of the forest. I started following it until I saw this sign informing me it's a prison fence. Several feet after the sign, the fence abruptly stops. I'm no security analyst, but I'm not entirely sure if fences remain effective if they stop. _________________________________________
Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes and his companions
Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
All up alive.
Threescore barrels, laid below,
To prove old England's overthrow.
But, by God's providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
A stick and a stake
For King James's sake!
If you won't give me one,
I'll take two,
The better for me,
And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn'orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.
Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!
This is actually quite the terrible poem, taking delight in the misfortune of another, but it does have great historical significance, since Fawkes' likeness has been adopted by anti-establishment protestors across the world.
I wish I could have uploaded this on November 5th, but rendering 4K on my system is slow, and I forgot to check the 'include audio' box the first time around.

Brap: No thinking, just reacting in a free and uninhibited way.
Back in 2006, Brad and I had a bit of an experimental industrial noise band thing going on.
12 years later, I realized, why not put this shit up on YouTube?
The video was created in April of 2018, using analogue feedback techniques that I would have used back then, rather than all the fancy digital filters I would use today.

I would like to introduce you to my new studio assistant.
It's a robot.
The EleksDraw is a low-cost drawing robot that can read BMP, JPG, SVG, and G Code, with a built in autotrace feature. It can draw slowly line by line, or do a quick vector outline.
One big problem with the Eleksmaker is that it comes with fairly poor assembly instructions. In fact, it comes with no instructions at all. You have to hunt down their website and follow the vague half instructions they've got posted there, and there are a few times where you just have to look at pictures of the completed thing and just sort of guess where things go.
This video offers a few clarifications where the official instructions are a but vague.
The software portion was infintely more frustrating than the mechanical assembly.

This video was taken on my 3rd visit to South Korea's Seoraksan National Park. It was also my third time climbing Ulsanbawi.
My first visit was during the fall, (and was shot in super low quality video) while my second visit was during the winter, which provided some beautiful black and white photography opportunities. (and I was without a camera)
This trip was late spring/early summer, and it is very much worth it to visit this park during each season, because each visit is a truly unique experience.
I was in much better shape during this climb than I was during my first two visits, so this trek was much easier than the first time around. On that first trip, I thought I was going to die.
This trip was also my first time getting to the peak of Seoraksan, the mountain the park is named after. It is possible to stand on the very peak of the mountain, which I wanted to do very badly, but with the combination of strong winds and a sprained ankle, it would have been just a little too dangerous, plus the footage would have been shaky.

This time, I went all '1980's video art' and pointed a camera at a monitor connected to that same camera, creating a feedback loop.
I launched a drum machine app to create some background sounds. The monitor, an ASUS PB278Q, has built in speakers, so lots of fun feedback going on.

Despite living in Toronto for 6 years, I've never actually been to Toronto island.
Until Now.
And on the day I went, there was an amazing thunderstorm!

I saw a really pretty candle holder at a thrift store, so I bought it and shot it.

After watching some of Adam Savage's "Tested", I have become inspired by Adam's tool organization strategy, and am attempting to adapt it to my art supplies so I can work effectively in my studio without losing or re-buying anything.
It's still a work in progress.
