While an SD2IEC is a great tool, it is not a full 1541 emulator like the Pi-1541; it doesn't function EXACTLY like a 1541/1571 drive. An SD2IEC IS capable of reading to/from .D64 files, so we can work off that...
In this video, we'll use the following software:
CBM File Browser
https://www.nightfallcrew.com/21/08/2013/cbm-filebrowser-v1-6-by-nbla000/
DraCopy V1.0d
https://csdb.dk/release/?id=98664
Empty Commodore .d64 File
https://www.commodoreserver.com/PublicDiskDetails.asp?DID=D1380F242CD942C7B379D5CA85431FC0
You'll also need:
A Commodore 64 or 128
A 1541 (or other) Commodore Disk Drive
An SD2IEC; there are many models, but here are a couple:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p4432023.m570.l1313&_nkw=SD2IEC&_sacat=0
Last, if you'd like to up your game and backup your diskette's much more quickly, there are a couple projects that aim to allow just that:

Hope this might help some soul longing to backup those 100s of C= diskettes you have laying around... while the C= community was helpful, there wasn't TOO much information available so TechHeart whipped up this here video for ya's!!! Enj0y.

BBSing is alive and well in 2024! Bulletin Board Systems were created in the 1980s by Ward Christensen with his software CBBS - they proliferated computers in the 1980s, 1990s and beyond - until the internet surpassed their capabilities... but this community still lives TODAY in 2024 - learn, with TechHeart, how to join and enjoy this wonderful community!!!!!

Technicom released Commodore software between 1982-1985, from what I can see, and one of their really cool applications was used by computer store owners to show off the features of C=64 machines! I didn't find this demo on any of the C= websites out there, so I wanted to show it off - and let you grab a copy to run yourself!! Grab the link below to get yer grimy hands on it and enjoy TechHeart taking it for a test spin right here...

[OBS messed up switching to my second screen the first time - 10:00min in it switches to the desktop view; sorry, I stink!!]
Do I really get this excited about retro computing!??!? I recently read a blog by Andreas Kling, the creator of SerenityOS... https://awesomekling.github.io/How-I-make-a-living-working-on-SerenityOS/
It's a current OS that aims to re-create 1990s styling and does an awesome job at it - this developer is able to make it his day job, and TechHeart dives in to learn the ropes - LETS GOOOO!

It's BBS Week 2o23, so its time to login to Level 29 BBS, make a post on /r/retrobattlestations and get our old hardware connecting like they never did in the past!!
Using a 1946 Philco Predicta Holiday that normally serves up random videos for your viewing pleasure - but it can pull some double duty and get online with a little bit of help from a slice of Raspberry Pi...
Come along for the ride, and vote for us on /r/retrobattlestations! If you have a retro machine, checkout https://old.reddit.com/r/retrobattlestations/comments/10zpyj3/contest_bbs_week_viii_through_feb_19/ and get your entry in!!
Contest info:
February 16th is the anniversary of the very first Electronic Bulletin Board System created by Ward Christensen and Randy Suess way back in 1978, which means it's time for the annual BBS Week contest!
Level 29, the RetroBattlestations BBS, is compatible with pretty much any kind of terminal device you can throw at it, from hard copy terminals and teleprinters such as teletypes, tiny computers like the TRS-80 MC-10, small 16 column by 4 row screens, game consoles with keyboards, all the way up to modern machines with Internet access.
Your challenge is to connect to RetroBattlestations' official BBS and post a message to join a discussion or start your own. Don't know what to say? Tell us the story of why you chose the battlestation you're using to post your message on the BBS! The BBS supports dialup, telnet, and even web access. If you need to use another computer to act as a modem, I recommend using my patched copy of tcpser which supports telnet and parity.
At the end of the week one winner will be selected from each of the following categories:
Most non-computery
Least real-estate (rows x cols)
Most artsy fartsy message
