A remarkable thing has happened with President Joe Biden in just the last month, and that is that his approval rating has shot up by five points since the midterms. Now, his approval rating, of course, is still underwater, meaning more people disapprove of his job than approve of what he has done. So right now he is at a 46% approval rating and a 54% disapproval rating. Still one of the better approval ratings he's seen within the last 12 months, higher than it has been in a year. And again, it's gone up since the midterms. That's quite remarkable, especially considering the fact that Republicans by a narrow margin won back the House of Representatives. But President Biden is the one who reaps the benefits of that. Now, in October, right before the midterms, Biden had an approval rating of 41%. So it's now at 46. Um, in August or June and July, he had an approval rating of 38%. So it continues to go up. It was slightly taking up, but then in the last month, a five point leap. And what has also happened during that time since the midterm, you know, Republicans took back the house, wonderful for them, right? Actually, it's not because I think that is what is making President Biden's approval rating go up, because what have we seen from the Republicans in the last month? We have seen chaos. We have seen infighting, the likes of which we have not seen within a political party in many decades in this country. You've got Republican against Republican, you've got Matt Gates against Marjorie Taylor Green. You've got a power struggle over at the R N C. Is it gonna be Ron McDaniel? Is it gonna be the frigging pillow guy? Nobody knows. Is Kevin McCarthy gonna have enough votes to become speaker? Are the Democrats gonna be able to sneak in and pick their own speaker of the house, thereby, almost negating the Republican majority? Who knows? But those are all very real possibilities due to the fact that Republicans can't seem to get their act together like y'all won the house, and you still, you still are sabotaging yourselves on top of that, even outside of the chaos that the public does see, by the way, outside of the chaos, what are you doing? What are you planning to do to make the lives of American citizens better? The answer to that is absolutely nothing. You're going to investigate fauci. You're going to investigate social media. You're going to investigate Hunter Biden, and as many laptops, you're going to investigate everything under the sun, and you're not gonna do a dang thing to actually help struggling American workers. Biden and the Democrats just might do that. I mean, we can't say for sure. We know they say they want to. What they do when it comes down to it is a different story altogether. But at the end of the day, the American public is looking at the two parties right now. Biden just averted a major rail strike. The public likes that the rail workers don't, they did not get what they needed. It was not a great deal, but it didn't shut down the economy. And that's all the public cares about. They don't care about the rail workers. I hate to say that, but truly they don't. They care about their own financial situation, but they count that as a Biden win. They know that Biden tried to give, uh, forgive student loan debt. They know that Republicans are blocking it. Republicans challenged it. A new analysis has revealed that drug companies have raised their prices roughly 1200 times so far, just this year. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins joins me to talk about what's happening and many other issues. Farron, when you hear those kinds of numbers, you go, how in the world does it happen? Well, obviously it happens because we have a government that won't do what they're supposed to do, because they're getting so much money in political contributions. The political comp, let's see it's the weapons industry and then the pharma industry. Yeah. I mean, the highest. And what's, you know, disturbing about this, when you break that number down even more, you know, 1200 so far this year in the first six months, we're talking about three times per day, every day, you know, weekends included. They don't take holidays. But three times a day, one drug in the United States is seeing its price being raised. So every eight hours, big pharma is raising the prices on at least one drug here in the United States. Let me give you some examples. Pfizer with their leukemia drug, it's a life saving drug and it, it's $21,000 per vile. And Congress for decades now has done nothing about it. We're starting to see some activity now, but even what they're coming up with right now, doesn't solve the problem. Congress is saying, well, we, we're, you know, we're coming here to, to, to fix the prices. No, they're not. If this bill passes that they're talking about, all it does is allows Medicare to negotiate. That's it. No other, no other insurance entity can negotiate with these prices. Right. And, and what's gonna happen as a result of that is that the drug companies will just raise the prices even more for people with private insurance or no insurance. Yeah. To make up the difference. So while it is good, obviously that, yeah, we're, we're doing something about it. It certainly is not enough. Because again, with Medicare, you're talking about the 65 and older crowd, you’re gonna see some reduction on some of the drugs, as long as they've been out on the market, you know. 11 years, yeah. 11 years at this point. And the markups, the really bad ones are usually with those blockbuster brand new drugs, which can run yearly doses when they first roll out hundreds of thousands a year. Okay. GSK, for example, has a lupus drug. They charge $4,000, $4,000 every time you get a prescription for this, for this lupus drug. They have been on the market a long time. They have been one of the examples that's been in front of Congress, Pfizer, Merck, all these companies, they've, they've seen where there, there's been, what 2000, 2000% markups on these drugs. Yep. That's all been presented to Congress for decades now. And the most decade that, that this Congress is willing to say is, well, we're gonna allow Medicare to negotiate, but they can't negotiate if the drug hasn't been on the market for 11 years, or if it's a newly approved drug that can kill people, just the same any, as any other drug. They can charge whatever they want. This is not gonna solve the problem, is it? Right. And the drug companies tell us, well, we do this because we gotta recoup research and development costs. Yeah. The bulk of the spending on new drugs in the United States is actually spent on advertising, not on research and development where 75 or more percent of it. 80%, 80% is for advertising. Well, and, and about 75 to 80% of the funding for the research itself comes from taxpayers. Oh, I see. So as I always say, we pay for our drugs twice. Yeah. We pay for it with our tax dollars and we pay for it at the pharmacy. Yeah. Nevertheless, everybody just rocks on like there's no problem here at Congress. Yeah, we'll take your political money.
