From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/question4.html - While building a vinyl liner swimming pool might be easier and less tehcnically challenging than a concrete swimming pool, there is still more to building a quality vinyl liner pool than most people realize. There are many design elements to choose from such as wall kit materials, floor style and materials, coping, deck, and the liner itself. Building your own pool without the benefit of pool installation experience is pretty risky but, if you had to take this on yourself, a vinyl liner pool kit is probably your best option.

From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/pool-leaking.html - The easiest and cheapest way to find out if your swimming pool is leaking is by doing an evaporation test, also called the bucket test. Pool owners can perform this test on their own without needing training, special equipment or a lot of instruction. All that is needed is a bucket or other open container, water and time. Place the bucket or container on a step or ledge in the pool such that it can be filled with water to match the level of the pool water around it. With the pool pump running normally, leave the bucket with water placed in the pool for 24 hours and then compare the two water levels for any water loss. If the water in the bucket and the pool are the same level after 24 hours, you do not have a leak in the swimming pool. If the water level in the pool is lower than the water in the bucket, then there is a leak somewhere that needs to be located and repaired.

From http://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/hot-tub-reviews.html - One of the hidden costs associated with getting a new hot tub is the cost of a hot tub pad where you will put the hot tub. The 8' x 8' x 4" slab for smaller tubs, or 10' x 10' x 4" slab for larger tubs is as much as 1.25 yards of concrete. That is equal to almost 75 bags of concrete weighing 60 pounds each. A concrete pad this size is too big for the average guy mixing concrete in a wheelbarrow, but so small that large concrete trucks may charge extra for such a small order size. The end result is that concrete hot tub pads are a little more expensive than people tend to estimate.

From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/pool-plan.html this video talks about new swimming pool installations and which upgrades you should potentially pass on. There are many upgrades you can add to a swimming pool installation. This is a list of 3 common upgrades that I say you should skip. Not because they have no value, but simply because there is a lot of money being spent when you build a swimming pool and many of these upgrades can have hidden costs, potential problems down the road or simply just will not get used as much as you think it will get used.

From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/pump-startup.html - If you try to turn your pool pump on and it just makes a humming noise instead of starting normally then there are a few things you can check to see if you can resolve this problem. Most often this will be a result of a partially tripped electrical breaker or as a result of the pump impeller being seized.

From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/pump-reviews1.html - See a quick demonstration of how to change the motor speed for the automatic priming cycle of the Hayward Super Pump VS. This option is accessed in the Configuration Menu. Variable speed pool pumps will attempt to run a high speed priming cycle. While useful, not all pools need a high speed priming cycle. Some pools will need a much lower RPM to achieve prime. Some systems might even be damaged from running your pump at a high speed as this may move water through the system faster than your filter is designed to handle. In these cases, you will want the maximum RPM to be set much lower than the 3450 max RPM priming cycles are typically set to. Once you have the correct RPM value entered and saved, the next time you go to prime your pump it will have retained this new motor speed set for the priming cycle.
