Is This New Rocket Simulator Worth Buying? Juno New Origins V1.0!
Juno: New Origins is a rebranding of Simple Rockets 2 because I guess the system is a lot less simple that It once was. It lets you build and simulate rockets, aircraft, rovers and even ships using the simple block based construction tools, and you can take these to other planets or even build your own planets.
It's been around for a few years and just left 'early access' beta, adding a career mode which makes it more of a game, but there's no need to do that if you just want to build and fly rockets there's a sandbox mode which has no limitations.
Reasons you might prefer this over Kerbal Space Program: * Procedural part design * Autopilot is the default way of flying * Programmable flight computers * Lower CPU loads because of no internal physics. * Support for iOS and Android * No little green men
Of course, KSP makes it easier to built a rocket, and the rockets flex under load, like the real thing, so it's a matter of preference.
Private Division flew me up to Seattle so I could meet with Star Theory, the developer for Kerbal Space Program 2, after a private meeting at their offices I had a chance to sit down with creativge director Nate Simpson at PAX West to ask him questions.
As you can guess this trip was paid for by Private Division, but that hasn't influenced my opinion of the project, what did influence me was the fact that Nate had clearly learned a lot from the original game and is well equipped to run the project. I'll admit I was skeptical to start with but I'm a lot more confident in this now I've had a lot of time to talk about their plans and concepts.
The Trailer for the game is here, expected release date is 'spring 2020':

Apologies for the sound quality, the interview booth had massive amounts of sound bleeding over from nearby booths.

In collaboration with Asteroid Day I'm starting a new monthly series where I talk about asteroids and astronomy with supporters of the 100x Asteroid Day declaration. This month I'm joined by Jill Tarter, one of the great pioneers of SETI.
Asteroid Day is a global movement to educate the public about asteroids. Learn more about Asteroid Day here: http://asteroidday.org

Good Night Oppy is a new documentary covering the story of the twin Mars Exploration Rovers, Spirit and Opportunity, which defied the odds and vastly exceeded their 90 day planned mission to last for over a decade each. This is a big screen production by Steven Spielberg's production company with the rovers and their world visualized by Industrial Light And Magic.
I had an opportunity to talk with Ryan White the Director of this film and as a video maker I was fascinated by the 2 year process that this needed.
Good Night Oppy is on limited release in theaters and will be released on Amazon Prime later this month.

Nauka, the new module for the ISS has had a troubled journey to the ISS after having problems soon after launch necessitating a delay, burning extra fuel and losing the option for a second docking attempt.
However the real drama came hours after the successful docking when thrusters on the module began firing unexpectedly, resulting in a loss of attitude control and emergency actions to stabilize the station.

ULA's Vulcan rocket will be propelled Blue Origin's BE-4 engine and spaceX's next generation engine is the Raptor. Both are using Methane as a fuel rather than RP-1 or Hydrogen - so why is methane suddenly an ideal fuel for rockets after largely being ignored for half a century.
