Someone approached me about selling my Silk Road sign on their DNM themed website, so I thought it would be prudent to work on making these in larger bulk before that goes live.
Working through this, the few lessons I learned were valuable. What I need to do is add a narrow spacer so I can hold down the center on the inside of the two signs. They seemed to work fine, but towards the center of each it was clear that the wood had bowed up somewhat, because the v-carve lines became thicker towards the center as opposed to the outside where they were clamped down.
On the sign at that back right the machine also lost steps for no obvious reason, ruining that sign. I'll have to drill down into the g-code and figure out what happened.
Overall, this was a highly successful first test of this proof of concept, and I learned a lot from the experience.

In this video I want to go over the process I used to add color to this lithophane I made. This will work with both 3D printed lithophanes as well as CNC carved lithophanes.
Lithophanes make great gifts for friends and family and are so much more enjoyable than a simple photograph. This lithophane is added to the lid of a memorial box I made after our dog passed away in October of 2022.

[I bought my wife a gift on Cameo after finding out she was pregnant earlier this year.](https://www.cameo.com/scottgrimes99) I asked Scott Grimes to sing a song as Steve Smith from the series American Dad and whatever song he sang could be dealer's choice. He knocked it out of the park. He could have sung a song from the show and I would have been very happy, but instead he chose something that was personally meaningful to him, and it just took this to a whole new level. I cannot recommend Scott highly enough if this is the sort of thing you'd be interested in.
A few months before this pregnancy we had a miscarriage, and after finding out my wife was pregnant again [I made a family tree](https://odysee.com/@ZimmerHandcrafted:e/Family-Tree-2021:3) to give her. That post goes into much greater detail about the miscarriage.
I debated whether or include that this is about our miscarriage in the title, but I figured it would be better to make clear going in so nobody is caught off guard by the drastically different tone of this video compared to all the others I make.
This was obviously a personal project that I'm very proud of and it is one of my favorite things I've ever made, on the CNC or with any other tools.
