Matt MacManus interviews Jason Stanley, the Jacob Urowsky Professor of Philosophy at Yale University, and the author of How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them. In his book, Stanley focuses on the structures that unite fascists and analyzes the ten pillars of fascist politics—the language and beliefs that separate people into an “us” and a “them.”
The modern world is at an impasse. Disasters scroll across our smartphone screens and we’re invited to like, follow or upvote, but critical thinking is harder and harder to find. Rather than connecting us in common struggle and debate, the internet has sped up and deepened a long-standing process of alienation and atomization.
While the DNC did conspire against social democracy the capitalist system itself ensures that our political process will remain broken. This video reacts to Capitalist Realism while still holding out hope of getting beyond it.

Is the Great RESET a World Economic Forum plan to destroy the economy in order to create the kind of conditions wherein the banks and politicians can easily establish the kind of total control they need in order to turn ALL the frogs Gay, or is it just another branding excercise meant to give the impression that the elites have a plan as everything falls apart?
In this video we take an excerpt from Michael Brooks book "Against the Web" as we continue exploring the ideas of Christopher Lasch. Specifically we explore how the dominance of the economic ideas of Paul Sweezy led even the best left critics of the left to embrace "progressive" reforms rather than develop socialism.

This is part one of a two part series of videos that will return to some of the ideas that were in our recent video on postmodernism, only this time we’ll step back from the 70s and into the 19th and the first half of the 20th century to do so. These videos will ask the philosophical questions “what is it to be human” or “what is it to be a self or a subject” only instead of arguing with Derrida while referring to Bojack Horseman and The Good Place, we’ll take on Max Stirner and Martin Heidegger while referencing Nicholas Ray’s 1955 film Rebel Without a Cause and video games.

In this video Ben Burgis explores why leftists absolutely should separate the art from the artist and why it's okay to watch Woody Allen's movies.
Burgis is the author of the book Give Them an Argument: Logic for the Left, and the upcoming Canceling Comedians While the World Burns. He is also a columnist for Jacobin Magazine and Arc Digital Media, and has his own youtube channel. He is also famous for doing a regular segment on The Michael Brooks Show called "the Debunk."

This video is part one of a two-part exploration of modernism. It explores the television program Electric Dreams, and specifically the episode 'Real Life' as it sets up some ontological concepts in preparation for a video that will consider whether a radical change as, defined by the modernism, is possible. Before we ask that question we first have to answer questions like:
How do we test the limits of what we can know about the social world? Do our theories have to be falsifiable in a positivist sense? And, secretly, we'll ask "Shall we be Kantians?"

In this video, Harvey J. Kaye points out how, starting with the revolution, the American tradition is a radical one. By comparing Thomas Paine to Edmund Burke he demonstrates how the American project was founded as a project of emancipation.
