(2005) Editor
A documentary by Yolanda Cruz. The experiences of Mexico´s indigenous emigrants through the story of the Mixtecos, who have been migrating to California for the last 30 years, and the Chatinos, who have moved to North Carolina during the last decade.
I had quit editing union projects for just the paychecks and concentrated on my own films and working with other independents. Money may not have been as good, but the worth of the projects more than made up for it.
The copies of this available on the internet are awful, so I cleaned up one. It was shot on a Standard Definition DV camera, as most were at that time. This affordable technology finally allowed indie filmmakers from around the world to have their voices heard. The only problem was the low resolution, but that problem would be soon solved.
Yolanda's latest film is shot in 2021. She has done some great work, check her out.
