Let's see how well the stadium followed the water district recommendations for keeping trash out of the creek. A sign and some trash cans, that should do it according to the stadium and city of Santa Clara. Look at the before and after photos, major difference in trash levels. And this situation worsens with each event. At least until the creek floods, then the problem will be taken care of. All that trash will get washed out into San Francisco Bay, out of sight, out of mind is the apparent mantra. And if they can't keep litter out of the creek, what about patrons? Imagine 75,000 fans milling around outside the stadium before Super Bowl 50. What if the creek is flowing at 1000cfs or so? One trip or mis-step and someone is going for a swim. Hopefully the stadium has a swift water rescue team on hand. I installed this 20 tooth chain ring back when I built this bike in 2012. Riding my cross bike on rough, steep fire roads and single track trails, I like to be able to go slow. With relatively small volume tires and no suspension, I need to keep the weight on the rear tire while climbing for maximum traction. In my younger days, I used to ride a 40-34 low gear and that was awesome. But now, a 20-36 or 20-42 is so much better. You can ride along at walking speed. You do need to keep the cadence up in the lowest gear or you'll lose balance due to the slow speed. I find that spinning up steep climbs is so much easier on my knees. With a 20-32-42 up front and an 11-42 in back, I get an 802% gear ratio spread from low to high. This allows me to ride my cross bike from walking pace up a 25% dirt grade to as fast as I care to ride on pavement. May not be for everyone, if you can mash uphill on a fixed gear bike, more power to you. Me and my knees will take low gears any day. This is version 2 of my solar powered work light. I added a small 12v lithium battery pack (solar charged of course) and modified the LED driver to double the light output and then mounted the lamp on a small camera tripod. I've re-tested it with 0.5 amps and may try with 0.4 amps as that more closely matches the LED load, and get similar capacity readings. This makes for a nice, portable configuration. The battery pack should give about 5 hours of run time. The camera tripod has a tilt/pivot head to allow for positioning the light and it has telescoping legs to raise and lower the light. I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. It will light up a dark room quite nicely and throws a very wide beam pattern. My camera doesn't show the lighting affect of the lamp very well, so I didn't shoot any video of the light output. If there is interest in that, I might give it a try with my new camcorder once I get it working. For future improvements, I could install a co-axial power jack into the side of the driver housing to allow the battery pack to plug directly in and eliminate that extra length of cable. I also have 600mA and 900mA constant current LED drivers on order, so want to try that instead of the inefficient series resistor. Also been using if for lighting on a few videos and with the manual white balance on the new camcorder, it works great. I used a Hakuba mini-tripod, cost about $20 from Frys Electronics, the 12v battery pack, about $23 on eBay, and the 12v 10W LED flood lamp that are around $10 on eBay, just search for "10w led flood light 12v" and you'll find dozens of listings. Seriously, what are the idiots running this place thinking? And no, I swear I didn't touch the hand washing stations, this is how I found them when I visited the day before and this is how they still were today. The wind direction was shifted a bit the day before and was blowing paper towels up and over the portable fencing and into the creek. I didn't have a camera with me, so I returned the next day after reporting the issue to the water district and the stadium operating company. Good news, around 9/16/2016, the Santa Clara Valley Water District prevailed upon the stadium operating company to clean up this mess. Well most of it at least, they left a good 10-15% of the smaller pieces of trash behind! What part of "NO TRASH IN THE CREEK" don't they understand? Bad news, on 9/17/2016, there was another event at the stadium and guess what? New trash is in the creek. Less than before, but this is only from one event. According to the Water District, the stadium is not permitted to let ANY trash enter the creek, ZERO, NADA, ZILCH! Why are they allowing trash from stadium operations to blow off the site and into this sensitive riparian environment frequented by much wildlife? This same creek flows into the south end of San Francisco Bay which includes the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Now the same United Site Services from which the stadium operating company rents their hand washing stations from is the very same company that is renting the latched cover variety to the Granite Construction Co. who is rebuilding some bridges up on Stevens Canyon Rd. that I shot at the end of the video. I see no paper towels scattered around the construction site, it's spotless. Why can't the stadium operating company use more suitable equipment to prevent the litter issue in the first place?
