***"Stereolab"*** are an English-French avant-pop band formed in London in 1990.

Combining jagged, roaring guitars and stop-start dynamics with melodic pop hooks, intertwining male-female harmonies, and evocative, cryptic lyrics, ***"Pixies"*** are one of alternative rock's most influential bands.
They turned conventions inside-out, melding punk and indie guitar rock, classic pop, surf rock, and stadium-sized riffs with bizarre, fragmented lyrics about space, religion, sex, mutilation, and pop culture. No matter how much lyrics may have been impenetrable, the music was direct, forceful, and laid the groundwork for the alternative explosion of the early '90s.
After the surf-pop of ***"Bossanova"***, on fourth studio release ***"Trompe le Monde"*** the band returned to the abrasive sound of the band's earlier releases.
The band adopts a different kind of edge for this album. Back is the humor and toughness of ***"[Surfer Rosa](https://cutt.ly/znkmZnk)"***, mixed with the tempo changes of ***"[Doolittle](https://cutt.ly/VnkmNtS)"***, combined the psychedelics of ***"[Bossanova](https://cutt.ly/3nkm13V)"***, and it really is a mixed bag.

critics consider the band one of the most important to emerge from the British independent music scene of the 1980s.
Based on the songwriting partnership of Morrissey and Marr, the Smiths' focus on a guitar, bass, and drum sound, and fusion of 1960s rock and post-punk, were a rejection of the synthesiser-based dance-pop of the time. The friction between Morrissey and Marr resulted in a flurry of singles and albums over the course of three years that provided the blueprint for British guitar rock in the following decade.
***"Strangeways, Here We Come"*** is the band's fourth and final studio album, released on 28 September 1987 (several months after their disbandment) by **”[Rough Trade Records](https://cutt.ly/YvnQ9fS)”**.
Between the album's recording in March and its release in September 1987, ***Johnny Marr*** left the group, started to look for different influences, finding an interest in ***The Beatles*** ***”[White Album](https://cutt.ly/nvmnpwy)”***.
The album is the most carefully considered and elaborately produced, and while it doesn't match ***"The Queen Is Dead"*** or ***"The Smiths"*** It's their most varied release and is much more experimental than their other three studio albums.
Experimenting more with strings and other production values, Strangeways is a very rich listen, perfect swan song for the Smiths who ended their already impeccable career on a high note.
