Going back over my poppies I use a deeper red and go under the bottom of the flowers to form a cup. Be patient and bit by bit your poppies will stand out.

Using the cerulean blue I mix it into the Gamboge and crimson to make an interesting earthy cloud colour. You can use this all over the painting to bring out the warm colours. Be expressive and don’t think to much about where you place the colour. Make sure the paper is wet.

I am mixing the Prussian blue into the permanent rose and cadmium yellow hue to make a duck egg blue then I sweep across the yellow and peach washes while the paper is wet.

I am using some earthy warm colours in my foreground and using a filbert I apply expressively on the dry paper and then wet carefully back over. Keep watching to see how I achieve that process.

Using sporadic washes leaving areas of light I mix yellow oxide Daniel Smith range and cadmium yellow hue together and apply with a squirrel hair varnish brush.

I am using my bushy Chinese brush spiked out and press the colour into the brush not dripping and apply over wet on wet washes across the vertical markings that I have done previously. This is a lovely way of creating reflections expressively.
