A few people have been asking about how I have been shooting the last couple of Macro videos so here it is, including a minimum focus test using all the filters from the "Ace close up & Macro lens set" I have been using.
Filmed with a hero3 black in 2.7k30 cropped to 1080p in the filter test and a hero2 showing how to assemble the macro filters onto the hero3 housing.
The hero2 was using a blurFix housing and the first shot it had the +1 +2 and +4 filters on it with no filter for the second.
The Blurfix housing and adapter is by Snake River Prototyping

I got mine on Ebay but cant find a current listing for the same ones atm
These look the same but under different Branding.
http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Concepts-Close-Up-Macro-Filter/dp/B001GMTI40Advantage of these is the deep filter ring on the +10 compared to most others I have seen which allows multiple +10 filters stacked if required. Though they are still only very cheap and you will get fringing and chromatic aberrations due to this.
For the price its worth a play around with and you can always look into higher end filters which I will also be testing as I get my hands on a few. Hoping to find an ideal solution, you can also use some UW macro lenses by Inon and others but these are much more expensive but will likely give best results. I still think its worth trying the cheap options first and see if you like the concept before spending too much on premium lenses, if you find you wont be using it as much as you thought you may. Even if IQ isnt the best it will give you a fair idea of what to expect from the setup.
