Kingdom Hearts FM [PS3] Commentary #003, Destiny Islands: Raft Parts and Duels
This is video #003 in my playthrough of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, part of the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX. This video contains commentary. To view the non-commentary version, click here: http://youtu.be/-of44gp_79U

After his strange dream, Sora wakes up on the beach in Destiny Islands. We meet him and his friends, Riku and Kairi. The scenes introduce the game's title and the name of this world.

Afterwards, Sora talks with Kairi by the door (time index 3:09). She asks him to gather the supplies for the raft: 2 Logs, 1 Rope, and 1 Cloth. Afterwards, he is free to explore the Seashore.

Sora will first gather the raft supplies. Log #1 is directly ahead on the beach (time index 4:21). Up in a tree house, Sora can find the Cloth. On the ship-like platform where Tidus is practicing, Sora can find a Rope. On the island where Riku is sitting, Sora can find Log #2.

The save point is located in the Seaside Shack.

After saving, Sora strikes up his pals on the Seaside for duels. He first chats with Wakka from Final Fantasy X (time index 6:54). Like in FF10, Wakka uses his blitzball as a weapon. With a swing of the toy sword, Sora can deflect the ball back at its owner. When Wakka is stunned, Sora can combo him. Wakka's "Take this!" attack results in 2 tech points if deflected.

Sora next goes to Selphie from Final Fantasy VIII on the pier (time index 8:57). She will attack using her jump rope like nunchucks. She is pretty easy to combo, and her rope can be deflected pretty easily for tech points. When she says, "You ready?" she will run straight towards Sora swinging her jumprope.

On the boatlike platform, Sora challenges Tidus from Final Fantasy X (time index 11:03). He uses a stick like a sword. He is pretty easy to combo in the back.

After fighting the three individually, Sora can fight them in a 3-on-1 battle (time index 12:28). This can be a little irritating at a low level, but it can be a good source of tech points. The best strategy is to take out Selphie first, perhaps deflecting Wakka's Ball into Tidus to stun the stick-swinger. The next matter of business is to take out Tidus. All the while, Sora should watch out for Wakka's attacks. Wakka should be easy enough when the ohter two are down. Defeating the trio will net Sora a Potion.

At the end of this battle, Sora reaches Level 4 and gets a Strength boost.

After resting in the Seaside Shack, Sora challenges Riku on the small island (time index 17:17). Riku is the (second) best swordsman on Destiny Islands. His meanest trick is landing on his back after a combo and springing forward with a strong strike. The trees on this island can be a major annoyance. Riku is pretty strong against frontal attacks, so go for his back. When Riku is down, he will give Sora a Potion.

Finally, Sora goes back to Kairi to turn in the raft parts (time index 20:35). She will give him a Hi-Potion! When Sora chooses "Yeah, let's go home," a scene between Sora, Kairi, and Riku will play. Something tells me a little raft won't help. They may need something a bit more substantial to travel between worlds.

That bit with the paopu fruit is pretty funny.

Next, we head over to Disney Castle (time index 23:42). Donald Duck goes to visit the "King" only to find that he has gone, leaving a letter with Pluto. This always quacks me up! Then, he goes and rudely awakens Goofy out in the courtyard. Something tells me that Donald's secret won't remain secret for long... just what did that letter say?

Thank you for watching!
