Recorded in the tide of Midsommers Litha, Southern Hemisphere Jan Midsommers Litha (Light on the Shore) (n) June 21+ (s) Dec 21+ Midsommer (or Sommersonnenwende in German) is a German Ethnic custom, along with many other parts of ethnic European practices by different names celebrating one of the four solar tides which are mid seasonal. It's considered the turning point at which summer reaches its height and the sun shines longest. In preservation of a list of the Anglo-Saxon names for the twelve months. Ærra Liða (first or preceding Liða) roughly corresponds to June in the Gregorian calendar, and Æfterra Liða (following Liða) to July. Litha means gentle or navigable, because in both these months the calm breezes are gentle and they were wont to sail upon the smooth sea". In Druidic reconstruction the tide is known as Alban Hefin. The sun in its greatest strength is greeted and celebrated on this holiday, with links to Stonehenge and Seahenge. Personally it is a time for the Sea in my Druidic practice in the European ancestor veneration/spirits in the wheel of the year and a day... Samain or Samuin was the name of the festival (feis) marking the beginning of winter in Gaelic Ireland. On Gaulish Coligny calendar, dating from the 1st century BC, the month name SAMONI is likely related to the word Samain and includes the word for "summer". A festival of some kind may have been held during the "three nights of Samoni" (Gaulish TRINOX SAMONI). The month name GIAMONI, six months later, likely includes the word for "winter". Samhuinn is celebrated on the eve, as one of the quarter days, with the first day of Winter marking not only the new year but also the start of the darker half of the year. Marked by great gatherings and feasts, and was when the ancient burial mounds were open, which were seen as portals to the Otherworld. Like Beltaine, Samhuinn is a liminal or threshold festival, when the boundary between this world and the Otherworld thinned, meaning the Aos Si (the 'spirits' or 'fairies' or the 'sidhe' who are ethnically white) can more easily come into this middle earth or mid realm, the Aos Si as remnants of the ethnic European or white Gotts. At Samhuinn, the ancestral spirits are appeased with offerings of food and drink, to ensure the people and their animals also survived the winter. The veils are thinnest in this seaon and the souls of dead kin also revisit their homes/people seeking hospitality, and a place is set at the table for them during a Samhuinn meal, referred to as a dumb or silent supper. In the 9th century, the invading Church that had brought in All Saints in attempt to take ethnic Europeans away from their ethnic culture of acknoledging the beginning of Winter and what it means to us.In the 9th century, the invading cult/church shifted the date of All Saints' Day to 1 November, while 2 November later became All Souls' Day. Over time, it eventually replaced Winternatch/Samhuinn and was marketed as modern Halloween for all, despite all the customs within being white or European ethnic centric. This is personally why I do not acknowledge Halloween because it is an appropriated and distorted version of my racial customs that surround and are Samhuinn. Yul or Jul is a ethnic Germanic custom of celebrating and recognising the tide of midwinter in the European ancestor veneration/spirits in the wheel of the year... Midwinter, Brumalia, and Saturnalia are also other ethnic European celebrations noticing this seasonal tide. Midwinter, known commonly as Yule or within modern Druid traditions as Alban Arthan, has been recognised as a significant turning point in the yearly cycle since the late Stone Age. The ancient megalithic sites of Newgrange, Stonehenge, and Seahenge, carefully aligned with the solstice sunrise and sunset, exemplify this. The reversal of the Sun's ebbing presence in the sky symbolizes the rebirth of the solar god and presages the return of fertile seasons. From Germanic to Roman tradition, this is the most important time of celebration.On mothers night it isthe longest night after the shortest day and the new sun in the sky slowly extends daylight again. Practices vary, but offerings, feasting, and gift giving are common elements of Midwinter festivities. Bringing sprigs and wreaths of evergreenery (such as holly, ivy, mistletoe, yew, and pine) into the home and tree decorating are also common during this time in white or European/Anglo culture. In Roman traditions additional festivities take place during the six days leading up to Midwinter. Another aspect in traditions of Europe is the wild hunt.
