Normally we would consider the Kappa Lambda sorority too insignificant of a target for anything more than basic training, but now they have inadvertently called our attention by inviting a coven of witches to protect them from the supernatural, due mostly to our recent successes elsewhere. We need to make a point and discourage the mortals from seeking such help by scaring the three witches away. Firetail can be freed multiple ways. Water can extinguish the flame and Quake can break the brazier, but you can also bind Earth, Air and Water elementals around the circle to not only free Firetail and disrupt the witches' protection, but also to make all your ghosts invulnerable to banishment. Wouldn't recommend it, though. The air elementals aren't that useful in my opinion and that ghost slot is better used for something else. In order to keep the immunity, which isn't even really that important, you need at least one ghost fettered around the circle, and as long as the circle is active the witches can return there to regenerate their own immunity. Although I admit not really seeing what their immunity protects against. Even when immune they still scare just like anyone else. Maybe it prevents them from fleeing or being victims of single target spells. I don't know. Freeing Tricia seems to be very simple. Just have two ghosts make two different definite noises (NOT Insane Invitation or the like) and the required victim seems to be bound to go there. I admit to having almost no luck trying only ONE ghost at a time, but I had nearly 100% success rate with immediate results using two ghosts in all my tests. Freeing Hogwash intentionally seems to require the use of Ethereal gift and an electrical ghost. Theoretically you should be able to also lure the guy upstairs with a walkman to come down there, but there was only one instance I ever saw him do that: When I had just started the level, had not used any powers yet and was listening to Tricia. Her dialogue was cut short by the Hogwash freeing scene and I saw the guy with headphones there. Strangest thing I've seen in this game, because normally he is almost stuck in that one bedroom. He is, for obvious reasons, immune to noises and the Siren Song, using Wild Geese and such powers (sending mortals to search fetters for non-existing things) don't seem to ever send him downstairs and if you try to scare him and drive him towards Hogwash, he'll instead run through the front door and hang out there until going back upstairs (or fleeing). Here begins my walkthrough of Thief: The Dark Project, the first in THE ultimate sneaking game series. If you haven't heard of it, then you better educate yourself and go buy it or at least watch a playthrough of it. It's definitely one of the greatest games ever made and I'm fairly certain I've seen some such lists from larger video game magazines and websites with Thief sitting at the very top, so it's not just me who thinks so. I don't personally like the Dark Project as much as I like Thief II: The Metal Age solely because I think majority of Thief II's levels are more fun than most of the (later) levels in this game, but this is a fun game as well and I like to play through it before playing The Metal Age. Yes, I aim to play and record the Metal Age next. Recording this game isn't as simple as recording newer PC games because this old game forces the screen recorder to treat the actual game and the menu screens as sort of separate entities due to resolution switching and amateur screen recording programs aren't able to record the menus (without a patch for the game), so due to me being just an amateur kind of guy with amateur tools I'm unable show you the mission goal screens, map screens, scroll/book/note screens (unless I ripped them off from other people's videos, which I considered doing at first) or end result screens. The game also has the problem with playing cutscenes and none of the three fixes offered on TTLG forums have worked for me. I'm still going to find a way around these problems in the walkthrough, and here's how: - I will list the goals in the description of the first part of each mission - I will list the end results in the description of the final part of each mission - I will edit the movies into the videos from the game disk itself (thankfully they're easy to rip, just copy/paste) - I will use YouTube's greatest feature, the pause and note annotations to show the texts from journals during the videos, so if you wish to skip the reading part just turn annotations off in each video. Fantastic, no? The game is also incredibly dark and it's meant to be that way. I know you still want to actually see something so I will try to adjust the brightness. A big problem with the game is that turning the gamma up in-game has no effect on the recording, so that's a bugger, and just casually turning up video brightness while editing only adds a layer of white/grey and doesn't actually help you see any better, so I can't promise a whole lot.
