Now that this is done, I still gotta finish Braveland Wizard and Braveland Pirate on hard mode. Since I can't stream Swich games, I figured I'd just do regular LP-style videos for these and I think this one turned out well. Lemme know what you think; I'm always open for suggestions on how to make my videos more enjoyable and accessible.

Hope you enjoyed! I couldn't find anyone to do Gilbert, which is unfortunate, because I was trying hard to keep a straight face when doing his lines, and I’m not a good singer, so that part could’ve gone better. Oh well. Let me know if you’re interested in taking a shot at some of the other characters; DM or ping me on Discord if you think you have what it takes to do some of the voices and we’ll set something up.
Thanks to the following for providing extra voices:
Ages (Raymond). Check out his channel here: https://www.youtube.com/c/RememberTheAGES/
Rubiks (Lewin, Male Citizen) and Henny. Check out his Twitch channel here: http://www.twitch.tv/RubiksLiveStreams

This song’s mainly centered around that infectious and multi-faceted beat. I layered three drum tracks on top of one another. The first is the bass drums alone, while the second is the heavier artillery such as the toms and snares. That third track is those wood blocks. Given that this song is primarily rhythm-based, there’s not anything else to really say about the song. As with “Coastal Harmony,” this one also only plays for one map, and it’s suitably brief. However, I think this track is a bit more enjoyable than “Coastal Harmony.”

I kind of like how this one's title has the same rhymes as the "Parched Lands" track. Compared to "Parched Lands," this song is much more plodding, much more driven, and much more immediate. There's a greater note density here and a LOT less breathing room than in "Parched Lands."
This one should play during long treks through the desert. I purposefully wrote the song to kind of drone on in a monotonous way; you'll notice that for the vast majority of the song, I have a three-part monophony which simply shifts between two chords (Ab and B). Towards the beginning, it's only the bass and the sax which comprise a two-part monophony, but starting at 1:13, the sitar joins in and from there, it's typically a three-part monophony.
I actually wrote this song BEFORE I wrote "Parched Lands," so this is the very first song I wrote which makes use of the sitar. However, I did use a different sitar soundfont for this one than I did for "Parched Lands" since I thought it fit better. The sitar was definitely a good choice for a song which is supposed to drone on repetitively. If there's any misgiving I have about this song, it's the length... but I suppose it can't be helped, given the tempo. What do you think? Too long? Too slow? Let me know in the comments below. Hope you enjoyed!

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a fairly modest person. So I hope you can believe me when I say that I think this song is VERY good. Among the songs I’ve written for Light of the World, this has become my new favorite. If you’ve kept up with my comments on my other tracks, you’ll notice that I tend to heavily value melody and find that it’s usually my favorite part of a song. And that’s precisely why I think this song works so well: the pan flute melodies just feel so natural and in-place, that when I listened to this song after finishing it, I thought “This is it!” My only minor regret is that this song isn’t longer, but on the other hand, 4 minutes and 41 seconds is still decently long for VG music standards.
Of course, the other elements aside from melody had to fall into place as well. You’ll find that the steel guitar track is pretty dynamic, shifting chord progressions and harmonies at multiple occasions throughout the song. With some tracks, I take the approach of coming up with a melody first, and then writing a harmony or underlying progression to complement it. With this song, I did the opposite, electing to work on the guitar progression first and then fit in the pan flute melody. Perhaps I should use this approach more often because it worked very well here.
I wanted to make this song at least moderately lengthy since it’s the second ship theme in my game. There is a part in the game which features a long, arduous journey to the northern reaches of the world map, and so this song becomes the sailing music for that segment. Because of this, the goal was to write this song to be markedly more somber and dramatic than “Seaward Bound,” the original ship theme. Your mileage may vary, but to me, the melodies felt a lot more immediate and forceful than those of “Seaward Bound.” I wanted the song to capture the serious mood of this final voyage, while also conveying a sense of force and dynamism to reflect the difficulty and length of the journey. Another essential component to me was that it had to reflect that sense of finality. “Northern Voyage” contains many parts with strong and fierce melodies, but it also has pockets of quietude which allow for more breathing room. As a whole, the song shifts around in mood often, and so I feel like it does not get old, even after quite a few loops. Ideally, that’s the goal of ANY video game song: that the player can tolerate it even after many iterations.
If you’re listening to this song, I hope you can enjoy it as much as I do. I’m not overly enthusiastic about some of my songs, and overall do not like to brag, but this is one song to which I will proudly point and say “I’m very happy with this result.”

We've all been in groups with a "That Guy." You know who he is. He's that guy who brings a Leon to a map full of spearmen. He's that guy who autos in a Joint Battle when he's 5 levels underleveled. He's that guy who refuses to use bonus units in the Bozel event. He's that guy who disregards danger zones and thinks it's a good idea to plop Liana in front of a group of cavalry. We all know what a "that guy" is.
So please, don't be a "That Guy." Please, if not for your family, do it for your fellow man. We all deserve better than this.
Also just so it's clear, my aim isn't to mock or denigrate anyone featured in this video who happened to be a "that guy." While it's annoying to see people do stupid mistakes, we all have moments when we do something really dumb, and what I value more is if we can learn from those mistakes, own up to them, and take responsibility. It's ok if you've been a "that guy;" I've done it myself, but it means we need to work harder next time is all.

For anyone curious about how this new release plays. If you want to see more gameplay videos, with or without commentary, then comment on Utreon on Odysee. (I never bother checking Tube comments anymore because this site is garbage)
Thoughts on the game so far:
-The animations are nice. The game is a definite throwback to GBA Fire Emblem. This is good because GBA FE games are solid and, but it's not so good in that this game doesn't seem to put forth many original ideas.
-And on that note, original ideas is where a lot of these FE clones come up short. Stats in Dark Deity basically do the same things as you'd expect in FE. Archers have 2 range, just like in FE. Mages have 1-2 range, just like in FE. The graphics themselves feel like they belong in a high-quality GBA FE Romhack. Perhaps as I get further in the game, originality will start to shine through. For now though, I'm not seeing it. Dark Deity feels extremely derivative, which is again a good and bad thing.
-Storytelling is confusing. Dark Deity throws several characters at you within the first few minutes and you have no idea who they are. Contrast this with, say, FE7 which opened with just you (the tactician) and Lyn. Or FE8 which opened up with just Eirika, Seth, and Valter. I understand that there will probably be a progressive buildup in Dark Deity, but one of the keys of good storytelling is gradually acclimating your players into the complexities. "Gradually" being the key word here.
-On the positive, I do appreciate the options the game gives you for campaign customization. You can dictate certain things, like whether stat growth is RNG based or static.
Overall, I'm not incredibly impressed with the game so far, but I'm not even 20 minutes into it yet so this could very easily change in the future. Right now, it just feels really unoriginal.
