my first use of Hohem iSteady mobile gimbal with Android Galaxy phone & DIY mic wind sock experiment
I bought a Hohem iSteady mobile 3 axis gimbal to use with my old Android Galaxy S5 phone. This video shows my very first use of the gimbal. I have a splitter attached to the side of my phone that I use to insert an external lavaliere microphone. The weight of this microphone and splitter may unbalance the phone a little. I was happy with the motion I got from the gimbal but it was a little jittery at times and I wonder if the mic was not causing some of it. I also think I can probably walk more smoothly and get better results. This was my first attempt and I am sure I will get better results as I use it more.
My phone is old so I could not use the zoom function offered by the gimbal and for some reason, I could not take a photo using the gimbal control, but I did use the other functions. Even if I do not improve the stability of my phone with the gimbal through more practice the end result is so much better than using the phone without a stabilizer. Walking while taking video with my old phone makes for unbearable to watch video.
As for my audio experiment, I took the phone outside in fairly strong winds in the hallways of the building where the wind was being funneled. Using a sock over the mic in my glasses case in my shirt pocket did provide additional relief from the wind gusts but I could still hear a little wind. Actually, the little foam cover does a decent job of keeping the wind out of the mic. I think I would have gotten close to similar results with the mic in my pocket glass case without the sock. If there was a way to keep the mic from moving around in a pocket it would be just as easy to get rid of the glass case and not use it at all. Away from the wind, the mic in my pocket recorded my talking very well.
With some more practice, I think I can take decent stable videos using the gimbal. The Hohem gimbal was very hard to set up and link to the Bluetooth as it would not sync repeatedly, and I am still not able to use all of the features the gimbal offers but there are dozens of videos on YouTube providing hints on how to get the most out of the stabilizer.
I bought a cardioid shotgun mic to use with my phone called the Movo and was going to review it too but for some reason, it will not work using my splitter even though my lavalier mic works fine with it. If anybody knows why that might be let me know.
Finally, I was just being goofy with the music while filming my old Corolla.

I would definitely eat this seaweed caviar again after the first couple of bites the taste was enjoyable and very similar to traditional caviar.
The price of this seaweed caviar is at this moment only$6 for a container which is quite a bit less than the price of the traditional caviar.

There are a lot of defensive tactical pens for sale. I have often thought about buying one. However, I bought a Pentel PG507 Graph pencil last year and love it. Not only is it a great mechanical pencil favored by many for drafting and mechanical drawing, but it is also in my opinion an interesting defensive tactical pencil.
This model is partly plastic but Pentel makes a few models that are entirely metal.
What sets this model apart is the very thin profile plus the needle-like tip. Not much else out there for the price. in addition, the Pentel pencil looks exactly like what it is, a well-made mechanical pencil. Just the sort of pencil James Bond would have carried if he was a nerd.

I purchased a Blue Yeti microphone and have been very happy with it, but wanted to get or build a floor stand to hold the mic so I can stand and stop sitting at my desk so much. I looked on amazon and found a very low cost $13 folding microphone stand that would work great, but the ad says specifically it would not work with the Blue yeti. I did some research and found a reviewer that said it worked for his Blue yeti so I bought one to find out. When I opened the box I was disappointed in the neewer stand initially as I saw no way for it to fit my microphone, but after assembling it I saw how to attach my mic after all. Overall, I am very happy with the Neewer stand and recommend it.
It should also work with most other microphones.

If you live next to a golf course How do you protect your car windows from being smashed by golf balls hitting them? Some insurance companies do not compensate car owners for golf ball damage and some of them limit the coverage to just certain windows of the car. What's worse, some cars have windows that if smashed by golf balls cannot be replaced alone but have to be replaced with other parts of the car. It was extraordinarily expensive.
Not everyone who moves in next to a golf course is aware of this problem and once they have purchased their condo it's too late.
This is my attempt to provide low-cost protection from golf balls for car windows.
I used 1/2 inch closed cell membrane rubber yoga mats because surprisingly, it was the lowest price I could find for this material. When I tried to source large rolls of the material I found yoga mats on sale were cheaper.
When adding the mats to your car, you need to make a template to see where the mats would fit best with the magnets as the magnets need to be secured to metal parts of the car.
If you use enough magnets they should prevent the wind from removing the mat under normal conditions. To help protect the mat from being damaged by the sun or being blown off in unexpectedly high winds you might want to consider getting a car cover. You can also get extra magnets and make little magnetic disks to help secure the car cover by attaching the mat to underneath the car.
I didn't provide any photographs of the finished mat on the car because after we placed it on the car it started raining and I left that evening and have not been back since.

Did you know you can buy trolling motor batteries via amazon and have them delivered by USPS. I had no idea that was possible, but since they are sealed they will not leak. Amazing.

Impossible coconut pie recipe
2 cups coconut milk or regular milk
1 cup shredded coconut
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup Bisquick or all-purpose flour
6 tablespoons shorting or margarine or coconut oil
1/2 cup sugar
mix well and add to oiled 10 inch pie pan
This pie gave me a little bit of an upset stomach but I ate half of it in one sitting. I could not stop eating it.
bake 350 degrees 45 minutes
after cooling refrigerate and serve cold
